Astigmatism and Hyperpoia[sic] are not diseases of the eye.  No medicine will give any relief from the pain they cause, but only properly fitted glasses.  See Dr. Clayton.

A  LOCAL  INVENTOR.
-------------
Dr. J. R. Clayton Improves Eye Glass Connections.
----------
In the list of patents published in our Monday issue was mention of "Eye glasses, J. R. Clayton, Shelbyville."
An investigation of Mr. Clayton's rough working model shows a very simple invention, but at the same time one that will be welcomed by wearers of glasses as well as by opticians.
One of the unpleasant features, as well as unprofitable, in wearing glasses is that the screws which bind the nose peice and nose spring to the rims holding the glasses loosen.  Every few days, it is necessary to have the screws tightened, and it does not take many operations of this nature till the steel screws wear away the gold threads, and the result is the necessity of new glasses.
By Dr. Clayton's invention this is obiated.  The nose pieces are fastened to the rim with mitered ends, which are held solid by a wedge.  The simplicity of the invention seems to have been the failure of other opticians while looking for a remedy for the old screw arrangement in glasses.
Many letters are being received from concerns who want to control the output of the patented article, but the doctor has not made any arrangements thus far.
