The Shelbyville RepublicanMrs. Eileen Gorgas was granted a decree of divorce from Elliott S. Gorgas by Judge Harry C. Morrison, in the Shelby Circuit Court Monday afternoon. The plaintiff’s maiden name, Eileen Eichelsdoerfer, was restored by order of the court.

The Shelbyville RepublicanPresident Wilson has named Col. W. C. Gorgas to be the Surgeon General of the U.W. Army. Colonel Gorgas now is chief sanitary officer of the Panama canal zone and the man by whose methods of sanitation the digging of the big ditch was made possible. He is a cousin of Mrs. N. H. Strong of this city, who of course is naturally pleased at the Colonel's promotion.

He did not seek the compliment but his friends thought that the interests of the association demanded that he should accept it. He has experience which will be of benefit to the society.
