SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (UP) -- Funeral arrangements were made today for Pleas E. Greenlee, 63, former Democratic state chairman, who committed suicide in a fit of despondency over poor health.
Greenlee shot himself in the chest with a shotgun Wednesday and died moments after friends found his body about noon at the rear of his palatial house north of here.
Dr. Roger F. Whitcomb, Shelby County coroner, said Greenlee was a diabetic and had been in despair of his general health." He had been ill for several years.
Greenlee's political roles included those of patronage dispenser for former Gov. Paul V. McNutt, a gubernatorial candidate, Democratic state chairman, acting Shelbyville postmaster, and author of the Statehouse campaign assessment clubs.
