ONE FOUND ASLEEP IN CAR

Three men were given some time to "think
it over" in the Shelby county jail during the weekend, all having been
placed there to await arraignment on charges of public intoxication.
Carl Griffith,
about 40, of Shelbyville, was arrested on Van avenue Saturday night, by
Patrolmen Earl Trees and Russell Clapp. Griffith
told Mayor Webb that he has a job in Connersville, that he couldn't pay any
fine, that he would lose his job if forced to stay in jail and that his father
is in hard financial circumstances and needs his help. Mayor Webb withheld
judgment and Griffith proceeded to Connersville.
Henry Joyce, about
60, farm worker was arrested at 3:20 a.m. Sunday by Patrolmen Trees and Clapp,
on East Franklin street. He pleaded guilty and paid his fine of one dollar
and costs.
John Cameron,
about 30, of Indianapolis, was arrested by State Patrolman Leo Moore yesterday
morning, in Middletown, where Cameron had gone to sleep in his parked
automobile. Officer Moore couldn't get Cameron to stay seated on the back
of the state police motorcycle, so Deputy Sheriff Thurston took Cameron to jail
in an auto mobile. Cameron pleased guilty in city court today, was fined
one dollar and costs and returned to jail awaiting the arrival of some friends
from Indianapolis to stay the fine for him.
