A quarrel is on here
between the City Council and the city engineer, George J. McBride,
because the Council insists that Mr. McBride should make out improvement
assessment rolls at his own expense. The Council is refusing all bills
presented by persons assisting the engineer in his work.

Councilman McBride wants it understood that he did not oppose the proposed location of an incandescent light at the corner of Noble and Elizabeth sts., he wants one at that point, but that he did not vote to place an arc light away out on Vine-st. and the J. M. and I. railroad, for the reason that it was expensive and only a very few residents would be benefitted thereby, and the city is not furnishing lights for the adjacent country.... Dennis McBride fell on the ice yesterday afternoon at the Sister's School and broke his arm in the same place where it was broken last September.

, yesterday, had a cancer removed from his nose by Dr. Howard, of Indianapolis. Joe has suffered untold agony of late, but is now the happiest man in Shelby county. The operation was performed without the use of a knife, and was highly successful. He will be all O. K. in a few days and ready to go to work.
