-------o-------
Jane Nelis has filed her petition for a divorce from William Nelis, of Hendricks township, to whom she states in her complaint she was married on the 14th of November, 1878, and with whom she lived until March, 1880, when they separated, living apart for two weeks, and then going back and living together, until December 30th, 1884, since which time they have lived apart, Mrs. Nelis residing with her father, Mr. William Heck. Mrs. Nelis alleges in her complaint that her husband was guilty of cruel treatment towards her and their eldest daughter, aged three years, and would often come home intoxicated. She alleges that said cruel treatment towards her consisted of his beating and pinching her, and also charges that he punished their little daughter in a cruel manner. She also declares that he failed to provide medicine and medical attendance on her when she was sick, and asks that she be granted a divorce and the custody of their two children.
