... bride's home by 'Squire James Clark of Jackson township. Mr.
and Mrs. Ropp now live on the same farm where their marriage took
place. Much of their life has been spent as residents of Jackson township,
tho they lived for a few years in Hendricks township, and during the earlier
part of their married life were residents of Pike county, Indiana, for about
four years.
Mrs. Ropp's maiden name
was Mary Scott. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Joel Scott, pioneer residents of Jackson township, and was born January 1,
1845. Mr. Ropp was born April 30, 1842, near Cincinnati, and was a son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ropp, who became pioneer residents of
Washington township, settling near Flat Rock when the son, Michael, was
only two years old. They lived in that vicinity till their death.

Mr. and Mrs. Ropp are
devout Christians, both being active members of the Blue River Baptist church in
Jackson township, and their lives have been such as to merit the confidence and
esteem of all who know them. Mr. Ropp is a life-long democrat, and tho he
has never sought political preferment, the good work he has done for the party
and his universal popularity would easily have enable him to score personal
victories along this line. He has always followed farming and the results
show that he met with success in his life work. The Democrat takes great
pleasure in congratulating this worthy couple and heartily joins their host of
friends in the wish that they many see many returns of the day and that all of
them may be as enjoyable as the present one promises to
be.
