----------
A few days ago Gus
DePrez, Edward Siefert, Harry Griffey and others
interested in the sport of bicycling, made arrangements with Superintendent
Pond for the race track on Sunday afternoon, October 1, and intended
having bicycle races. Everything pointed to a good time but this morning
Superintendent Pond informed the promoters of the races that he had decided not
to permit the use of the grounds owing, as he stated, to the protests of several
parties who were opposed to the races. The young men, with their friends,
are greatly disappointed over their failure to secure the grounds.
