IS ASSIGNED TO PULPIT OF
CENTRAL AVENUE CHURCH HERE

By appointment of Bishop Anderson at the close of the eighty-fourth annual conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church for the Indiana district, announced yesterday, the Rev. John S. Ward, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Shelbyville, is transferred to the Central Avenue Church, Indianapolis, for next year. The Rev. Mr. Ward had been highly recommended by prominent churchmen for superintendent of the Connersville district.

TO BE NEW DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT

The new superintendent of the Connersville M. E. district, to be appointed by Bishop W. F. Anderson, is expected to be Dr. John S. Ward of Shelbyville. Prominent churchmen say the appointment will be announced at the Indiana Conference meeting in Indianapolis. Dr. Ward was indorsed unanimously by pastors of the conference at a meeting last June.

WARDS TO CHAUTAUQUA, N. Y.

Rev. and Mrs. John S. Ward children left here Wednesday for Chautauqua, N. Y., where they will spend two weeks. During the time that Rev. Ward is enjoying his vacation, arrangements have been made for the morning services at the First M. E. church. On Sunday morning, July 4th, Dr. Harry Andrews King, president of Moores Hill College, will preach. Victor B. Hargitt, pastor of the Waldron M. E. church, will preach on Sunday morning, July 11. Joseph C. Edwards, principal of the Shelbyville High school, will conduct the morning service on Sunday, July 18. The prayer services will be conducted during the absence of the pastor by M. D. Foland, Ernest Hall and Ed Burkher. On Sunday nights the church will join with the other churches of the city in the union meetings to be held on the court house lawn.
