Charles H. “Hank” Ashton Jr., 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, at MHP Medical Center. Born August 25, 1939, in Wheeling, West Virginia, he was the son of Charles H. Ashton Sr. and Eunice (Jackson) Ashton. He married Judith (Reynolds) Ashton on September 22, 1961, and she survives. Other survivors include a brother, Owen Thomas Ashton of Florida; and a sister, Luana Funk of Temple, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Ashton had lived in this area since 2004, after moving from Toledo, Ohio. He had worked more than 60 years in insurance sales and adjusting for several different companies in the Toledo area. He graduated from Brilliant High School in Brilliant, Ohio, and was a member of The Remnant, formerly Town & Country Christian Church. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Hank was involved in his church as an elder and a deacon. He enjoyed reading, traveling and playing softball in his earlier years. He was an Ohio Buckeye and Indianapolis Colts fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
A celebration of life will be at noon Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Dwayne Russell officiating. Friends may call Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Memorial Squad.
