Kenneth W. Basey, 72, New Palestine, died Sunday at Regency Place Convalescent Center, Greenfield.
Retired October, 1972 from Navistar; 33 years as a foundry foreman.
Member of the New Palestine Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
S/o Alfred and Augusta (Wilkins) Basey, born February 14, 1916 in Shelby county.
Married Frances L. Rafferty, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sue Crawford, New Palestine; a son, David Basey, Bloomington; five grandchildren; and a sister, Hattie Moore, New Palestine.
Hendryx Mortuaries New Palestine Chapel with the Rev. Rebecca Bunton officiating. 
Burial:  New Palestine Cemetery.

Otis Sanford Basey, 94, 1101 W. Washington Street, died Sunday morning, November 10, 1968, Major Hospital.  Ill since October 3.
Retired farmer and employe of Stokley-VanCamp Co.
Resided in Shelbyville for the past five years. Attended the Baptist Temple.
Born in Brown County March 8, 1874, Mr. Basey was the son ofs/o  Robert H. and  Rosanna (Ridenour) Basey. Married  Mary E. Johnson, who survives.
Surviving are six children  Carl R. Basey,  Mrs. Henry Noffke  and  Mrs. James Layman, all of Indianapolis,  Ray Basey of R.R.4 Franklin,  Otis Basey, Columbus, and  Mrs. Herbert Akers, Greenwood; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

ARTIE  BASEY  DIES  IN  HOSPITAL
Rites Monday For Retired Farmer, 82

Artie Basey, 82, retired farmer, who made his home with his sister, Mrs. Myrtle Anderson in Fairland, died at Major Hospital Friday at 10:30 p.m. following an illness of six months. He was hospitalized two days.
Services will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Murphy Mortuary, with burial in the Fairland Cemetery.
Mr. Basey had lived in the Fairland community most of his life, and was a former Lewis Creek resident.
Born in Tipton May 1, 1885.
Married to Cora Fields who preceded him in death.
Married  Patsy Helping in 1944 and she died February 9, 1957. 
One son also preceded in death.
Surviving with the sister are three children,  Mrs. Betty J. Hobson, Knightstown Road,  James Basey, Marion, and  Mrs. Lucy Poole, Shelbyville; nine grandchildren and another sister,  Mrs. Lucy Mohr, Lake Panasoffkee, Florida.

Services at the Murphy Funeral Home.
Sanford J. Basey, 87, died Sunday morning at the Ace Placid Nursing Home.
Resided in Fairland before entering the home three years ago.
Rev. C.M. Hagar will conduct services.
Burial will be in the Fairland Cemetery.
Born at Tipton, Indiana, March 24, 1879,  s/o George and Georganna (Hogan) Basey.
Surviving are a son,  Herman Basey, Indianapolis; six grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; a brother,  Artie Basey of Fairland, and two sisters,  Mrs. Myrtle Anderson of Fairland and  Mrs. Roy Mohr, of Bruce, Wisconsin.
Son,  John,  preceded in death.

          George Basey,  49, of Lewis Creek, died at 12:15 p.m. today at Major Hospital.  He had been admitted to the hospital at 10:20 this morning.  Cause of death was not known pending an autopsy.  Mr. Basey had gone to a local doctor's office this morning before going to the hospital.

GEORGE  BASEY

          Services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Sleeth Funeral Home for  George P. Basey,  49, Lewis Creek, who died suddenly at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at Major Hospital.  Death was attributed to a heart attack.
          Mr. Basey, a salesman for the local Indiana Gas and Water Company, became ill yesterday while on his way to work and was admitted to the hospital at 10:20 a.m.
          Rev. Kenneth Ursiny  will officiate at the services and burial will be in the Patterson Cemetery.  Friends may call at the mortuary after 7:00 p.m. today.
          Mr. Basey was born in Tipton County on Aug. 24, 1914, a son of  Mr. and Mrs. Artie Basey.  He married  Josephine Weiner  on May 28, 1955.
          Surviving with the widow and the father who resides near Lewis Creek are four children.  James R. Basey  of Indianapolis,  George R. Basey  of this city,  Carol Ann Basey  and  William J. Basey  at home.
          Also surviving are a half-sister,  Mrs. Nellie Handack,  of Greenwood; two half-brothers,  Gilbert Lee  of this city and  Ted Wheaton  of North Vernon, and two grandchildren.
          Mr. Basey was a veteran of World War II and a member of the local Eagles Lodge.

Attended the London Methodist Church and was a London native.
Survivors include two daughters,  Mrs. Dorothy Routier  of Columbus and  Mrs. Mildred Cox  of Indianapolis; a sister,  Mrs. George Braden  of Indianapolis; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral Sunday For London Resident, 65

        Lawrence A. Basey, 65, resident of London, died at Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis Thursday afternoon following an illness of several months.  He was a retired farmer and truck operator.
        The son of  Henry and  Lou (Curry) Basey, he was born in Marion county January 2, 1893.  He was married November 6, 1919, to  Ida Morgan who survives with two daughters,  Mrs. Jack Routier of Columbus and  Mrs. Hardin Cox of Fairland R.R.1.  Also surviving are five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two half sisters and four half-brothers,  Mrs. Opal Master and  Mrs. Florence Cross of Yorktown,  Arthur and  Roy Basey of California and  David and  Roscoe Basey of Michigan.
        Mr. Basey was a member of the Sugar Creek Masonic Lodge.  His funeral will be held at the Ewing Mortuary Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and burial, with members of the lodge participating in graveside services, will be in the London cemetery.

RITES  FOR  FAIRLAND  WOMAN
TO  BE  WEDNESDAY

          Ill the last six months with a complication of diseases,  Mrs. Anna W Basey, 69, died at her home in Fairland at 5:30 this morning.  A native of London, Shelby County, Mrs. Basey was born April 13, 1886, the daughter of James and Martha Ellen Deal Rouse.  She first was married to  James William Wells,  whose death occurred October 20, 1952.  On August 7, 1953, she was married to  Sanford Basey  who survives with the following sisters and brothers,  Mrs. Dessie Wells  of Fairland;  Mrs. Ellen Thurston  of Needham;  Louis Rouse,  Rush County, and  Charles Rouse  of near Morristown.  There are several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Basey was a member of the Fairland Methodist Church. Her funeral, in charge of the Murphy Mortuary, will be held at the church Thursday at 10 AM with Rev Robert Chaffee officiating.  Interment will be in the Fairland Cemetery.  Friends may call at the late home after noon Tuesday.

Rites  for  Mrs. Laura  Basey
To  Be  Saturday

          Mrs. Laura B. Basey, age seventy-five, wife of  Sank Basey, died at her home in Fairland Thursday at 12:10 p.m.  She had been ill for six months and death was caused by complications resulting from a stroke of paralysis.
          Mrs. Basey was born in Kentucky on April 5, 1869.  She had lived almost all of her life in the Fairland community and was a member of the Fairland Methodist Church.
          Early in life she was married to  Andrew J. Driscoll, whose death occurred in 1935.  She was married to Mr. Basey in 1940 and he survives with eight children.  They are  Mrs. [?] Gill, of Brownsburg;  Mrs. Bessie Lynch, of Rochester;  JohnClarence and A. J. Driscoll, of this city;  James Driscoll, of Fairland;  Lellie Driscoll, of Indianapolis, and  Chester Driscoll of Rushville.  Also surviving are 30 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
         
Funeral services will be held at the Fairland Methodist Church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Cox officiating.  Burial will be made in the Fairland cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing.  Friends may call at the late home in Fairland after 6:00 o'clock this evening.

Shelbyville Navy Man Dies of Wounds;
Had Been in Service for One Year

        Another Shelby county man has made the supreme sacrifice in the military service of his country.
        John Sankford Basey, 34, second class fireman serving with the U.S. Navy, died of wounds following action somewhere in the Pacific theater of operations, according to a Navy department telegram received Thursday night by his wife, Mrs. Lou Basey, 207 east Locust street.  The official message of the local man’s death contained no details, merely stating that F/2c Basey died of wounds following action in the performance of his duties and in the service of his country. The telegram added that any further information would be forwarded to his wife as soon as possible.
        F/2c Basey had been in service less than a year and had been on active sea duty for approximately six months.  He was widely known in Shelbyville, having attended the local schools.  He was employed by the DePrez Manufacturing Company prior to his induction into the Navy.
        Besides the widow, he is survived by five children.  They are  Marian, 13;  Joan, 11;  Francella, seven;  Carmeltta, four; and  Larry, 17 months.  He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Virgil Hinkle, of this city, and a half-brother, Virgil Hinkle, who is a prisoner of the Japanese in the Philippine Islands.

MEMORIAL  SERVICE  FOR
JOHN  S. BASEY  IS  HELD

        Memorial services for  John S. Basey, fireman second class, with the United States navy, who died as the result of wounds suffered in action in the Pacific, were conducted Tuesday night at the local Salvation citadel at 11 south Noble street.
        Capt. Paul Branum, of the Shelbyville Army Post , was in charge of the memorial for the local man who sacrificed his life in the military service of his nation.

FAIRLAND  MAN  DIES  AT  HOME

Robert H. Basey Leaves Three Sons;
Funeral Will Be Wednesday

        Robert H. Basey died at his home in Fairland at 1:50 o’clock Sunday morning. Death was caused from complications resulting from a broken hip, which he received several weeks ago in a fall at his home.
        Mr. Basey was born in Kentucky in November 1846, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Basey. When he was three years old he moved with his parents to Indiana. For the past twenty years he has resided in Shelby county.
        Fifty years ago he was married to Miss Rosa Ridenhour who preceded him in death five years ago.
        Of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Basey, three sons survive. They are Carl of Lakeland, Florida, Charles of Fairland and Otis Sanford of Greenwood. Besides the sons survivors are 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
        Mr. Basey was a member of the Fairland Christian Church where the funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Charles R. Query, pastor of the Fairland Methodist church will officiate.
Burial will be in the Fairland Cemetery in charge of C.F. Fix and Sons, funeral directors.

        George Washington Basey, 84, died at his home in Fairland this morning at 9:50 o’clock after an illness of one month.  Senility was the cause of death.
        Mr. Basey had been a resident of Fairland for the past five years and was born in Decatur county, March 23, 1850.
        The deceased is survived by five children,  Sanford and  Artie Basey,  Mrs. Lida Beard  and  Mrs. Myrtle Anderson, all of Fairland, and  Mrs. Lucy Mohr, of Glen Flora, Wisconsin; one brother,  Robert Basey, of Fairland; twenty-nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
        Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 o’clock at the Second Mt. Pleasant Church, with the Rev. W.A. Ryland, pastor of the Fairland M.E. church, officiating.  Burial will be in the Second Mt. Pleasant cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing, funeral director.

        Subsequent to a year’s illness, Mrs. Rosanna Basey, 82 years old, wife of Robert Basey, died at 4:40 o’clock   Tuesday afternoon at her home in Fairland.  Heart disease was the cause of her death.
        She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ridenour and was born in Ohio June 6, 1847.  She was married to Mr. Basey when quite young, and eight children were born to them. Mrs. Basey was a member of the Christian Church in Jackson county.  She and her husband had lived in Fairland for the last fifteen years.
        Besides the husband, she leaves three sons:  Charles and  Otis of Sugar Creek township, and  Carl, of Florida. Two brothers,  Albert and  Frank Ridenour, also survive, with two stepsisters, residing in Boone County.
        The funeral service will be held Friday morning at 10 o’clock in the Fairland M.E. Church, Rev. W.A. Ryland officiating.  Burial will tale place in the Fairland cemetery. C. F. Fix and Son are the funeral directors in charge.

        Mrs. Georgia Anne Basey, age sixty-nine, wife of George Basey, died Tuesday night at 9:15 o’clock at their home in Sugar Creek township, one mile west of Fairland. Her death was caused by pneumonia.
        Mrs. Basey was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Hogan.  She was born in Decatur county but practically all of her life had been spent in Shelby county.  She was affiliated with the Vine Street M.P. Church here.
        Besides the husband she leaves two sons,  Artie Basey,  Shelbyville, and  Sanford Basey,  at home, and three daughters, Mrs. Roy Moore, of Wisconsin; Mrs. Herman Anderson, of Boggstown, and Mrs. Henry Beard, of Needham.  Fourteen grandchildren also survive.
        Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o’clock at the Vine Street M.P. Church, the Rev. Forrest Cridey officiating.  Burial will be in the Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

          Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Pleasant View for  Mrs. Charles [Anna Fout] Basey, a resident of that town.  Mrs. Basey died Thursday evening.  Burial was made in the cemetery at Pleasant View.  Mrs. Basey was 80 years old.  She is survived by three sons and one daughter.

Henry Basey, Former Moral Township
Resident, Victim Of Heart Disease
----------
        Henry Basey, 50 years old, for many years a resident of Moral township, dropped dead yesterday from heart disease in a machine shop in Indianapolis, where he was regularly employed. The end came without warning to the victim and to his fellow employees.
        The body will be brought to the home of his mother, Mrs. Anna Basey, in Pleasant View, Moral township, Sunday morning, and arrangements have been made of holding the funeral services in the Pleasant View Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
        Mr. Basey had been away from this county about twelve years and during all of that time had been living in Indianapolis. He leaves a widow, who was his second wife, and a daughter by this second marriage. A son, Lawrence, by the first marriage, also survives. His first wife died several years ago. Mr. Basey also leaves a sister, Miss Ida, of Pleasant View; a brother, Alfred, of Moral township, and another brother, Wesley, who is a resident of Indianapolis.
