Funeral Monday For
Walter C. Brooks, 68

Funeral services will be held Monday for Walter C. Brooks, 68, Indianapolis, former local resident, who died suddenly in the Hamilton Jewelry store where he worked in Indianapolis at 1:10 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Brooks was born in Noble township, June 15, 1886, and lived in the Cave area until he moved to Indianapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha (Hogue) Brooks; three children, Mrs. Maxine Cutter, Washington, D.C.; Charles E. Brooks, Dearborn, Mich., and James D. Brooks, Indianapolis; two brothers, Ed Brooks, Shelbyville, and Russell Brooks, Greensburg; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Pherigo and Miss Katie Brooks, both of Shelbyville; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Englewood Christian Church in Indianapolis.
Services will be at the Shirley Bros. Irvington Hill mortuary in Indianapolis at 1:00 p.m. Monday. The body will be brought to the Lewis Creek cemetery in Shelby county for burial at 2:30 p.m. The casket will be opened prior to interment.

HEART AILMENT FATAL TO MAN

George T. Brooks Dies At Home; Rites To Be Sunday
----------
A heart condition caused the death of George T. Brooks, St. Paul resident, at 6:45 o'clock this morning at his home. Mr. Brooks who was 68 years of age, had been in failing health for the past 18 months but his death was sudden.
A native of Decatur county, he was born on July 26, 1881, the son of George M. and Lovina J. (Benson) Brooks. He had been a member o the St. Paul Odd Fellows lodge since 1902 and of the Milford Masonic lodge since 1903. He was also a member of the Clifty Tall Cedars.
On June 4, 1919, he was married to Lillian Kemp, who survives with one step-daughter, Mrs. Marion Davis, of Connersville and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Mount and Mrs. Flora Lewis of St. Paul. Also surviving is one grandchild. Two sisters preceded him in death this year.
Funeral rites will be held at the St. Paul Methodist Church Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. W. R. Lathom officiating. Burial, in charge of D. E. Carmony funeral home at St. Paul, will be in the VanPelt cemetery with members of the Milford lodge participating in the rites. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Friday to noon Saturday and after that time at the church.

BROOKS FUNERAL RITES ARE SET

Funeral services for Mrs. Angeline Trees Brooks, age eighty-six years, who died Sunday at 10 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Julia Pherigo, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Pherigo home at 124 East Hendricks street. The Rev. D. P. Rowlette, pastor of the Waldron Baptist church, will officiate and interment will be made in the Lewis Creek cemetery in charge of C. F. Fix & Son. Mrs. Brooks was born in Noble township on June 28, 1856, the daughter of Davis and Sally Ann Trees, pioneer residents of the county. She had spent her entire life in Shelby county. She was a member of the Lewis Creek Baptist Church.
Sixty-eight years ago she was married to Dudley M. Brooks, who preceded her in death 42 years ago. Five of six children born to this union survive. They are: Mrs. Pherigo, at whose home she died; Miss Katie Brooks, also of the East Hendricks street address; Edward A. Brooks, of Noble township; Walter C. Brooks, of Indianapolis and Russell Brooks, of Greensburg. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Pherigo residence at any time.

Sister of Mrs. Dora Mount and Former St. Paul Woman Dies
----------
Mrs. Lydia Brooks, widow of Theodore Brooks and former resident of St. Paul, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Zeta Riggs, in Richmond Monday. She was the sister, of Mrs. Dora Mount of Shelbyville. A daughter, Mrs. Jennie Pearce, lives in St. Paul. Mrs. Brooks had been ill three months. She was a daughter of Joseph and Mary Anspaugh formerly of Decatur county and was 70 years old at the time of death. Six of the eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Brooks survive. They are Mrs. Riggs and Mrs. Pearce, William Brooks, Mrs. Mae Rogers, Mrs. Lavonne Hickman and Mrs. Naomi Moorman, all of Richmond. Funeral services will be held at Mrs. Rigg's home in Richmond at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Goshen cemetery, North Richmond.

BROOKS FUNERAL
RITES TOMORROW

Funeral services for Charles Ithamer Brooks, 56, who committed suicide at 6:00 o'clock Monday morning by blowing the top of his head to bits with a shotgun, while he was seated in his auto in front of his ex-wife's home, on the Gillespie farm in Washington township, near Flat Rock, will be held tomorrow morning at 10:00 o'clock at Wilkinson.
The body was moved there today in the C. F. Fix & Son ambulance. Burial will be conducted the the McCray cemetery.

STRICKEN WITH HEART TROUBLE

William M. Brooks of Shelby Township, suffered a severe attack of
heart trouble Sunday evening while at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frances
Raper, of near Norristown, and is now in critical condition. Mr. Brooks is
one of the old pioneer residents of this county ad had many friends who will
regret to hear of his illness.

WILLIAM M. BROOKS

William M. Brooks, one of Shelby county's oldest citizens and grandest old men, died at 11:50 a.m.
Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frances E. Raper, near Waldron, in Liberty township.
Death was due to senility. Mr. Brooks was born in Boone County, KY., on January 4, 1820 and was at
the time of his death ninety-two years, two months and twenty-one days of age. He came to Indiana at
the age of twenty-nine years and spent nearly all of his long and useful life as a resident of this county.
On June 5, 1840, Mr. Brooks was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Summers and to this union four
children were born, three of whom survive. They are Mrs. Frances E. Raper, near Waldron; Mrs.
Martha Peak, of Hayden, Ind., and Mrs. Sarah McGee, of Lebanon, Missouri. Mrs. Raper, with whom Mr. Brooks had made his home for several years, was his oldest child, and she is now seventy years
of age. Mr. Brooks first wedded life, while happy, was not destined to be of long duration and his first wife
was called to her home above on May 24, 1847. Mr. Brooks was again married, his second wife being
Miss Sarah Peak, to whom he was wedded on December 31, 1857. Five children were born to bless this marriage, and four of these survive their aged father. They are Alonzo Brooks, of Newport, Ind.; Thomas Brooks, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Charles Archey, of this city. Mr. Brooks is survived by twenty-six grand children, twenty-nine great grand children, and four great-great grand children. The funeral services
will be held at the late home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. William Wilson, an evangelist, will officiate,
and interment will be made in the Pleasant Grove cemetery, Stewart & Fix in charge.

Passes To The Great Beyond
Last Night At His Home on
South Harrison Street
----------
Dudley Brooks died on South Harrison street at ten p.m. Tuesday, February 13th, 1900, of lung trouble, after an illness of only a few days, aged forty-eight years, nine months and thirteen days. Just a short time past Mr. Brooks purchased the grocery store on South Harrison street where he and his son, Edward, were building up a good business. He had always been known as a pleasant, honest and attentive business man, always having a kind word for every one. He leaves a wife and five children, three sons and two daughters, to mourn his demise. He was a member of Kiowa Tribe, No. 199, of this city. The remains will be taken to the home of his father-in-law, Mr. Davis Trees, on Harrison Avenue, this evening. The funeral services will be held in the Lewis Creek Baptist church at eleven a.m., Thursday, February 15th, 1900. The casket will be open for friends wishing to view the remains from eight p.m. to nine p.m., this evening, and from seven to 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The cortege will leave the house at 9:30 a.m. prompt. Rev. Nesslage, officiating. Interment in Lewis Creek cemetery.
