Funeral services for William A. Candler were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 1969 in the Nebo Christian Church with the Reverend Ewell Groves officiating. Burial was in the Nebo Cemetery, under the direction of Holman Funeral Home. Miss Paula Core sang How Great Thou art and No Tears in Heaven. Escorts were Harley and Stanley Brim, Bobby Padgett, Ira and Joe Rhoads and Buddy Templeton.
William A. Candler son of William J. and Bertha Candler was born in Linton, Indiana, October 26, 1915 and died July 14, 1969 at Wallace Hospital, Lebanon. He was 53 years of age. On June 28, 1937 he was married to Audrey Brim. He served in the United States Army for a while. He was a member of the Nebo Christian Church, serving as Deacon of the church at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; four daughters, Audrey E., Janie, Mary Ann and Billie Joan, all of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Leek of Terre Haute, Indiana, Mrs. Nellie Pagett [sic–Padgett] of Linton, Indiana and Mrs. Janie [sic–Jannie] Templeton of Kansas City, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.

Expires of Hit-Run
Accident Injuries.

William Joseph Candler, 71 years old, of Linton, died at 3:08 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Union hospital at Terre Haute, of injuries received May 7 when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver at Terre Haute. Mr. Candler was born in Hutsonville, Ill., on June 18, 1877.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Daisy Comer of Monongahela, Penn., Mrs. Jannie Templeton of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Laura Leek of Terre Haute and Mrs. Nellie Padgett of Linton; one son, William Candler of Terre Haute; two brothers, Geo. and Harve Candler, both of Vincennes; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Havenner of Electra, Texas, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Newkirk Funeral home at Pleasantville and returned this morning to the home in Linton. Funeral services will be held at the family residence here at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. John Jerrels officiating. Burial will be made in Fairview cemetery.
