WORTHINGTON -- Thelma City, 73, of Worthington, died Saturday at her residence. Born May 5, 1920, in Worthington, she was the daughter of Dewey and Mary (Harshman) Haldeman. She was a homemaker and had worked at RCA in Bloomington. She was a member of the First Christian Church and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Dee Turpin and Dianna Sue Baugh, both of Worthington, and Zenobia Lewis of Kingsville, Texas; two sons, Elmer Dewey City of Brownsburg and Jeffrey City of Columbus; one brother John M. Haldeman of Mabank, Texas; one sister, Dolores Wilcox of Worthington; 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Damon City in 1983; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Welch and Cornell Funeral Home in Worthington with the Rev. Tim Wingfield officiating. Burial will be at Worthington Cemetery. Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.

BLOOMFIELD -- Damon F. City, 64, R. 5, Bloomfield, died Thursday afternoon at Greene County General Hospital. Born June 18, 1918, in Jasonville, he was the son of Elmer and Nellie (Byers) City. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, Post 106 in Worthington. He was retired from Crane in 1978 where he worked as a machinist.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma (Haldeman) City; three daughters, Diana Sue Baugh and Mary Dee Turpin, both of Worthington and Zenobia Ruth Lewis of Kingsville, Texas; two sons, Elmer City of Brownsburg and Jeffrey City of Spartanburg, S.C.; one brother, Benson City of Clinton; two sisters, Beatrice Tow of Long Beach Calif., and Emogene Disney of Martinsville; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Welch and Cornett Worthington Chapel with Joe Conarroe officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday and noon until services Sunday.

Miles Free City, 77, of Universal, died at the Vermillion County Hospital at 11:00 a.m. today after an illness of one week. He had been a resident of Universal for 25 years.
Survivors include two sons, Alonzo City, of Universal and Elmer City of Terre Haute; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Karanovich Funeral Home pending completion of funeral arrangements.

CLINTON, Ind., Sept 24. -- (Special)
Miles Free City, 77 years old, of Universal, died Thursday at the Vermillion County Hospital. He is survived by two sons, Alonzo City of Universal and Elmer City of Terre Haute; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Karanovich Funeral Home and was removed Friday afternoon to the residence of the son, Alonzo, where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in Shirley cemetery, west of Universal.

Mrs. Nellie City Dies
----------
Mrs. Nellie City, age 32, died early yesterday morning at the Union hospital in Terre Haute. The body is at Brown's funeral establishment and is to be taken to the home in Easytown tonight.
Surviving Mrs. City are the husband, Elmer, four children, Benson, Damon, Emmagine and Beatrice, her father, Benjamin Barrs,* three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Miller of Linton, Mrs. Beatrice Cutts of Glendora, Mrs. Marion Parmer, and one brother, Ward.
Funeral services are to be held tomorrow morning at 10:30 o'clock at the residence in Easytown. Burial is to be in the Riverside cemetery, Clinton.
*Betty's note: Nellie’s last name was spelled “Byers” on her marriage documents.
