Cody
The Republic Josie Cody, 56, of 5974 S. Jonesville, died at 5:05 a.m. today at Bartholomew County Hospital after an illness of one year. She was married to James Cody in 1976, and he survives. Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. David Harker at 10 a.m. Saturday at Norman Funeral Home at Hope. Calling hours will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Cody was born July 21, 1926, in Bartholomew County, the daughter of Floyd and Goldie Drake Pope. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Columbus Order of the Eastern Star and Eagles Lodge Auxiliary.
Surviving with her husband are eight sons, Harold Thompson of Shady Lane, Gerald Thompson of 1036 Union, Tommy Thompson of Columbus, Lloyd Thompson Jr. of 1217 Lafyette [?sic--Lafayette], Ronnie Thompson of Franklin Street, David Thompson of Jackson Street, and Johnny Thompson and James Stephen Cody of 5974 S. Jonesville; four daughters, Shirley Abner of 5974 S. Jonesville, Beverly Carmer of Hutchinson Street, Becky Caudill of 1321 Sycamore, and Kathy Miller of 1217 Lafayette; three sisters, Betty Hoesman of Elizabethtown, Margaret Ward of 1225 Lafayette, and Elsie Wood of Clifford; two brothers, Robert Pope of Kokomo and Ralph Pope of Franklin, Calif., and 15 grandchildren.
