Robert Evans Corley
----------
Robert Evans Corley 84, 540 E. Broadway,
died Tuesday at his home.
Mr. Corley, a cabinet maker at the Shelbyville Desk
Company until his retirement in 1972, was a member of the UIU Union.
A son of William and Mattie Belle (Huffman)
Corley, he was born October 27, 1903 in Danville, KY. He was married Sept. 17, 1933, to Alpha Herndon,
who preceded him in death May 11, 1969.
Surviving are daughters, Shirley Cummings and
Marian Hague, both Shelbyville; sons, Rex Corley, Newport, KY., Richard Corley, Franklin, and
Leon Corley and Gene Corley, both Shelbyville; 26 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Carmony-Ewing
Harrson Street Funeral Home, 829 S. Harrison St., with the Rev. Ed Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill
Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-5 p.m. Friday at the funeral
home.

Mrs. Corley Dies In Hospital
----------
Mrs. Alpha Mae Corley, 62 640 E. Broadway,
died at 6:00 a. m. Sunday at Major Hospital where she had been admitted a short time earlier. She had been in poor
health several years and seriously ill one week.
Born in Decatur County March 29, 1907, she was the
daughter of Charles and Laura (Bullard) Herndon. On Sept. 17, 1923, she was married to Robert E. Corley
and he survives.
Other survivors are four sons, Rex Corley, Newport,
KY., and Leon, Richard and Gene Corley, all of Shelbyville: two daughters, Mrs. Orville (Marian) Hague
and Mrs. Loren (Shirley) Cummings, both of Shelbyville: 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Ray Herndon, Shelby County, and Charles Herndon, Shelbyville, and two sisters, Mrs.
Ernest (Opal) Adams and Mrs. Chester (Alice) Corley, both of Shelbyville.
Mrs. Corley was a member of the Vine Street United
Methodist Church, where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Edgar Marshall and H. H. Clements
officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Murphy Mortuary from 2:00 p.m. Tuesday,
until noon Wednesday and then at the church.

Chester Henry Corley, 58, died Monday night.
Born June 15, 1899, Shelby County, s/o William and Mattie (Huffman) Corley.
Residence: 505-1/2 E. Washington St., Indianapolis.
Lived most of his life in Shelbyville.
Wood finisher at Shelby Desk Co.
Surviving: children, Robert Corley, Fountaintown, George,
Harry G., Maurice, Carl, Norman Corley, Mrs. John
Shearer, Shelbyville, Mrs. William P. Taylor, Dearborn,
Michigan, Mrs. William Gretsinger, Detroit; brothers, Walter,
Robert Corley, Shelbyville.
Murphy Mortuary with Rev. Alonzo Hamilton officiating.
Burial: Forest Hill Cemetery.
