MORPHINE ENDS LIFE OF CHILD
----------
Six Weeks Old Child Of Joseph Corwin Given Patent
Medicine Died Two Days After Taking The Medicine
----------
The
little six weeks old child of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Corwin,
of Fairland, died yesterday morning as a result of taking four drops of Dr. Washburn's diarrhea compound,
which contained an eighth of an ounce of morphine. The child had been taken sick Saturday morning with diarrhea and Mrs. Corwin, securing the medicine which had been purchased months before, gave the baby a dose, the directions reading from one to ten drops to be given.
Four were given in this case, and after the baby had swallowed the medicine, it began growing worse. Dr. Wells, of Fairland, was up with the child most of Sunday night. It is the opinion that the morphine in the medicine caused the child's death. The funeral services were held this afternoon by Stewart & Fix.
