Robert E. Degelow Jr., 55

Robert E. Degelow Jr., 55, of Milroy, died July 24, 2009. Born Feb. 22, 1954 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Robert E. Degelow Sr. and Ruth Clayton Degelow, both deceased.
Mr. Degelow spent his entire life in this area. He was a selfemployed machinist and general contractor. He was a 1972 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School and attended Indiana University.
Survivors include son, William Degelow of Manilla; daughters, Pacia (Robert) Galyen of Westport and Amy (Jesse) King of Greensburg; brothers, John (Peggy) Degelow of Waldron and Dan (Lisa) Degelow of Alabama; sisters, Jane (John) Murphy of Morgantown and Laura (Pat) Dalton of Fortville; three grandchildren, Caleb Ralston, Alexander King and Forrest Galyen.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville with the Rev. Clyde McCammack officiating. Burial will follow in Moscow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert E. Degelow Jr. Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home.

Ruth G. Degelow, 74, of Shelbyville, died Monday, July 25, 2004, at Heritage House Convalescent Center. Born Nov. 28, 1929, in Hancock County, she was the daughter of Ernest A. and Flora (Hack) Clayton. She married Robert E. Degelow, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane A. Murphy of Martinsville and Laura A. Wallsmith of Fortville; three sons, Robert E. Degelow Jr. of Moscow, John A. Degelow of Waldron and Daniel A. Degelow of Kokomo; one sister, Louise Rivers of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Simons; and one brother, Ernest A. Clayton Jr.
Mrs. Degelow was a lifelong Shelby County resident. She was employed at State Bank of Waldron for 10 years, retiring in 1991. She was later employed at St. Paul Liquor Store, in St. Paul, for nine years, retiring in 2003. Mrs. Degelow graduated from Shelbyville High School and attended Indiana University. She was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist church and NAAMAH Chapter No. 73, Order of Eastern Star.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn E. George & Son Fruneral Home, 437 Amos Road. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robb Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Moscow Cemetery, in Rush County. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County, in care of Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Robert Degelow, 63

Robert E, Degelow, 63, of 1050 S. Degelow Road, Milroy, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1993 in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born Aug. 26, 1930 in Shelby County, he was the son of Albert J. and Mary A. Miley Degelow. He married Ruth G. Clayton and she survives.
He was engaged in farming and was owner/operator of Degelow Machine until his retirement in 1992. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He had lived in Rush County since moving to the area from Shelby County in 1968. He was a member of the F&AM Lodge No. 28; the Namah Chapter 73 of Order of Eastern Star; Eagles Lodge No. 766; and the American Legion Post No. 70 in Shelbyville. He was a 1949 graduate of Shelbyville High School and a 1955 graduate of Purdue University.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters: Mrs. John (Jane) Murphy and Laura Ann Degelow, both of Indianapolis; three sons: Robert E. Degelow Jr. and Major John A. Degelow, both of Rush County, and Daniel A. Degelow of Ft. Wayne; one brother: Frederick E. Degelow, Shelbyville; two sisters: Mrs. James (Mary Jane) Dodds and Fern C. James, both of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at the Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel in Shelbyville with the Rod Beheler and Dr. Robb Barlow officiating. Burial is at Moscow Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
