William D. Deupree, 72, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Major Hospital.
Born March 3, 1932, in Shelbyville, s/o Ralph I. and Justine (Bronson) Deupree.
Married Darlene Clark on Jan. 28, 1956, she survives.
Other survivors: sons, Todd Deupree of Indianapolis and Brad Deupree of La Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Dawn Branam (husband, Keith) of Shelbyville; one brother, Jim B. Deupree; four grandchildren, Tara Branam of Shelbyville, Jade Branam of San Diego, Calif., Corey Branam of Warsaw and Ashlee Branam of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one great-grandson, Kaden Branam.
Preceded in death by one son, Doug Deupree, and one sister, Gloria Lewis.
Medical doctor from 1963 until retiring in 2001.
Owned his own practice and was a board certified pediatrician and later a general practitioner. Staff doctor at Indiana University, Riley Hospital for Children and Major Hospital; plant physician for General Electric and Pittsburgh Plate Glass.
Former Shelby County health officer.
Graduated in 1949 from Shelbyville High School and in 1957 from Indiana University School of Medicine.
U.S. Army veteran, and served as chief of pediatrics at U.S. Army Hospital, in Fort Leonard Wood, Miss.
Member of Elks Club, Eagles Lodge and American Legion, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Shelby County Shriner and Murat Shrine Temple.
Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home, 819 S. Harrison St., Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
Military rites; cremation will follow.
