Isabelle “Fay” Durbin, 67, Shelbyville, died.
Born Jan. 23, 1932, in Orange Township in Rush County, d/o Jacob and Emma (Kuhn)
Kuhn.
On July 22, 1950, married Harold R. Durbin, and he survives.
Lifelong resident of the area.
Employed with the Rush County school system for 22 years and was treasurer for 15 of those, retiring in 1997.
Member of the Zion United Church of Christ and the Zion Women’s Guild.
Survivors: husband; one son, Stephen Durbin, Manilla; three daughters,
Mrs. Joseph (Deborah) Pavey, Manilla, and Mrs. Russell (Linda) Jenkins
and Mrs. Shawn (Joyce) Miller, both of Rushville; one brother,
Charles D. Kuhn, Waldron; and 10 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Christ with the Rev. Robert Shaw officiating.
Burial: Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Goldie Ficklin of Indianapolis, Mrs. Iva Fleetwood of
Beech Grove; 1 brother, Delbert Kerr of Shelbyville.
Two brothers preceded in death.
Member of Union Chapel Methodist church.
Burial: Union Chapel Methodist cemetery.

Death Occurs at Home
in Noble Township
Following Week's Illness

John N. Durbin, widely known resident of Noble township, died at his home at 11 a.m. today following a week's serious illness. His death was due to a ruptured appendix and peritonitis. He had been in failing health for the past five years, however.
Mr. Durbin was born in Noble township April 27, 1868, the son of Thomas N. and Mariah (Hoban) Durbin. He was sixty-nine years, three months and nine days of age. He had resided in the township almost all of his live.
On October 10, 1885, Mr. Durbin was married to Miss Hattie Austin, who survives. Eight children were born to the union, all of whom survive.
The survivors include four sons, William and Alfred Durbin, of Noble township; George, of St. Paul, and Thomas, of Madison county; four daughters, Mrs. Herschel Kerr, of Adams township, Decatur county; Mrs. Ernest Wright and Mrs. Chester Rush, of Noble township, and Mrs. Guy Todd, of Tipton county; twenty-three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, E. H. Durbin, of Noblesville; a sister, Mrs. Nettie Sliger, of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Durbin's death was the first in his immediate family and is a source of deep sorrow to hundreds of friends. He became a member of the Methodist church early in life.
Funeral services will be held at the Valley Church Saturday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Homer Manuel, pastor of the St. Paul Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be made at VanPelt cemetery in charge of C.F. Fix & Son, funeral directors.
Friends may call at the residence after noon Friday.

Austin C. Durbin, well known resident of Noble township, died Tuesday morning at seven o'clock in Carthage, Ohio, where he had been for the past several weeks.
His death was caused from a complication of diseases.
Mr. Durbin was born in Noble township sixty-eight years ago and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver P. Durbin. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. C. A. Stiles*, of Geneva. The deceased was a member of the Sons of Veterans.
The body was brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Hunt, 224 Colescott street where funeral services will be held Thursday morning at ten o'clock. The Rev. T. J. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing.

Mrs. Maria Hoban Durbin, aged 81 years and 9 months, died at 9 o'clock this morning at her home at Waldron, where she had lived eight years. She was born in New York, coming to Noble township when she was 7 years old. Her husband, the late Thomas Durbin, died nine years ago. She leaves two sons, John N. Durbin, Noble township, and Alkanah Durbin, Hamilton county; a daughter, Mrs. Nettie Slage, Waldron; a brother, Theodore Hoban, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Mason, both of Noble township; and fifteen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, besides a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church at Waldron of which she was a member. The Rev. R. O. Pearson will conduct the services, assisted by the Rev. C. B. Atkinson of the Baptist church. Burial will be in the family lot in the Ogden cemetery, south of Waldron, C. F. Fix and Son in charge.

Mrs. William Durbin Died Tuesday Midnight
At Home Of Mother In Geneva

Following months of illness from tuberculosis, Mrs. Bernice Lucille Durbin, wife of William Durbin, died at midnight Tuesday at the home of her mother, Mrs. William Farnsworth, one mile northeast of Geneva, Noble township. Funeral services will be held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist church at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning, with interment in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Durbin was born in Noble township September 7, 1898, the daughter of Elmer and Etta Carmen. She was married to Mr. Durbin, April 8, 1917 and one child was born to the union, Willard Walter, who with the father survives. She leaves the mother and stepfather, one sister, Mrs. Blanche Kessler, Noble township and three brothers, Wallace, Willie and Israel, all of Noble township.
She was taken ill early this year when she contracted a heavy cold, which later developed into tuberculosis. She was taken to Rockville, for treatment and after a week at the sanitarium was returned to her home.

Civil War Veteran Passed Away
At Home In Noble Township
Funeral Will Be Held Friday Afternoon

Thomas N. Durbin, 87 years old, died Wednesday morning at two O'clock at his home in Noble township. His death was caused by bronchial pneumonia, and followed an illness of one week. Mr. Durbin who was well known in Shelby county, was a veteran of the civil war.
He was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, and came to Noble township in 1865. In 1880 he moved to Tipton county where he remained for 23 years, returning to this county in 1903. Mr. Durbin was married in 1886 to Maria Hoban.
He is survived by two sons, John N. Hoban of Noble township, and Elkanah H., of Tipton; 13 grandchildren, and two sisters, Miss Lena Durbin, and Mrs. Laura Crosby, both of Indianapolis. Mr. Durbin served four years and four months during the civil war as a member of Company C. of the Ohio Infantry. He was first sergeant of the company. Funeral services will be held at the Valley church Friday at two o'clock, the Rev. Hester officiating. Burial will be made in the Ogden cemetery, Stewart & Fix in charge.
