DEATH OF JOHN ECK
His Demise Occurred Monday Evening at His Home in Liberty Township
----------
Monday at half past 6 o'clock p.m. John Eck
passed peacefully away at his home in Liberty township. He was a man who endeared to him all who met him and of whom it may be said, he died without an enemy.
He was a time honored upright citizen, neighbor and friend, was a kind and affectionate husband and father, truly devoted to family and home; he was a Christian and died happy in the Savior's love.
In politics he was a staunch Democrat; was elected trustee of Liberty township in 1886, and proved such an honor to his trust he was nominated for the second time by acclamation, and was urged to accept the third term, which he declined.
Deceased was a warm friend of this paper. His sociability was known far and wide and he was never more happy than when he was extending the hospitality of his elegant home to neighbor and friend.
He leaves a wife and two children, Herman G. and Pearl, to mourn his loss.
He was a typical man physically, never sick in his life until the 13th of October last when he was stricken with that dread disease typhoid fever, which lasted about three weeks, and just as he thought he was over the worst he was stricken with paralysis, then the second stroke came and, not strong enough to claim him yet, the third came which took him away.
He was born February 24, 1856, died November 11, 1895, aged thirty-nine years, ten months and eighteen days.
He was married to Flora B. Ensminger, daughter of Louise
Ensminger, of this city. Cortege left the residence at ten o'clock Wednesday, funeral at the Christian Union church, Cynthiana, at eleven o'clock, conducted by Rev. G. W.
Hagans. Interment in Forest Hill cemetery, Shelbyville, at 1:30 p.m. D. B. Wilson & Son have charge of the remains.
