Stricken while enroute to Martinsville where he was to under go treatment, Harry Ely, 55 years old, widely known resident of New Palestine, died suddenly at 6:30 o'clock in Marion county. His death the result of uremic poisoning.
Mr. Ely, an employe of the International Harvester Company for a long period of years, had been in ill health and his physician had advised treatment at a Martinsville sanatorium. With his son-in-law, Robert Snodgrass, he had started Tuesday evening to Martinsville, and, as their auto approached Glen Valley, Mr. Ely complained of being short of breath and asked his son-in-law to stop the automobile. As Mr. Ely stepped from the auto, he slumped to the ground, dead.
He was a lifelong resident of New Palestine and leaves a daughter, Mrs. Berthelda Snodgrass, and his aged mother, Mrs. Ida Ely, both of New Palestine.
Funeral services are to be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon from the mother's home with the Rev. Vern Krause officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery with Max Herrlich & Son, funeral directors, in charge.
