Sarah A. Emerick, 86, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, Franklin, Johnson Co, IN.
Born Nov. 27, 1916, in Shelby County, d/o  Joseph C. and  Esta (Ropp) Isley.  Married  C. Earl Emerick  on Oct. 10, 1937; he preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1976.
Survivors include one son, Wray Emerick  of Edinburgh; one daughter, Carol S. McVey  of Bedford; one brother, John Isley  of Winter Haven, Fla.; one sister, Irene Stafford  of Shelbyville; one granddaughter, Dee Ann Goble;  one great-grandson; and two stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Isley  and  Joseph Isley, and two sisters, Jeannetta King  and  Mabel Cochran.
Lifelong Shelby County resident.
Homemaker.
Lifetime member of St. George Lutheran Church, and a member of Crusaders, L.C.W., Ruth Circle, Knitting Circle and Jackson Township Extension Homemakers Club.  Former 4-H leader in Jackson Township.
Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
Rev. Robert Campbell (nephew) officiating.
Burial will be in St. George Lutheran Cemetery in Jackson Twp, Shelby County.

Clarence W. Emerick, 81, 31 East Locust street, died at 4:30 a.m. today at Major Hospital.  Patient since April 18.  Poor health two years.
Former post office employe and lifelong local resident.
Born in Shelby County September 27, 1891, to  George and  Rosa (Woodruff) Emerick.
Married  Edna Stine  on May 31, 1915 in Shelbyville and she died January 14, 1965.
Married  Hazel E. Brown  on April 27, 1972; she survives.
Other survivors:  two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Markley  and  Miss LaVada Emerick  of Shelbyville, one son  Maurice Emerick R.R.4, six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren;  three sisters,  Mrs. Gertrude Stine, Shelbyville,  Mrs. Ivan (Karris) Cummings, Indianapolis, and  Mrs. Omer (Carrie) Smith, New Carlisle, Ohio, four stepsons,  Robert Shelton, R.R.1, Shelbyville,  Herbert and  Delbert Shelton, Hamilton, Ohio, and  George C. Shelton, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, three stepdaughters,  Mrs. Walter (Anna) Shoopman, R.R.1 Waldron,  Mrs. Lawrence Puckett, Greenwood, and  Mrs. George (Mary) Cosmtock R.R.6, Shelbyville; 29 step-grandchildren and 30 step-great grandchildren.
Three brothers preceded in death.
Retired from the post office in 1962.

Funeral Services To be Held Friday A.M.

          Mrs. Rosa A. Emerich, widow of the late George A. Emerich, died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law,  Mr. and Mrs. Russell Stine, 737 Second street, this city, at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the age of seventy-three years. Senility was the cause of death.
          Mrs. Emerich was the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. Louis Woodruff  and was born in Missouri on January 5, 1861.  The husband passed away thirty-one years ago.
          She leaves three daughters,  Mrs. Russell [Gertrude] Stine, at whose home death occurred;  Mrs. Omer [Carrie] Smith, of Flat Rock, and  Mrs. Cariss Linville, of Indianapolis; two sons,  Clarence Emerich, of Shelbyville, and  Thomas Emerich, of Mishawaka, sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters,  Mrs. Retta Cotton, of Shelbyville and  Mrs. Mary Bulmar, of Metamora, and one brother,  Louis Woodruff, of Oklahoma.
          The deceased was a member of the First Christian church of this city.  She had lived with Mr. and Mrs. Stine for the past six weeks and prior to that time had made her home in Flat Rock.
          Funeral services will be held at the home where death occurred on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Paul E. Million, pastor of the church, officiating.  Burial will be in the St. George cemetery, with Charles M. Ewing, local funeral director in charge.

Cancer of Face Causes Death of
Scott Emerich at His Mothers Home|

          Scott A. Emerich, 29 years of age died at 8 o’clock this morning at the home of his mother,  Mrs. Rosa Emerich, 733 west Second Street, of cancer of the face, with which he had been afflicted since he was 5 years of age.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 o’clock at the late home with interment in the St. George Lutheran cemetery in Jackson township, in charge of Hendrickson & Sleeth
          He was born two miles north of Shelbyville on the Michigan road, October 6, 1889, being aged 29 years, 11 months and 10 days, at the time of his death.  He leaves the mother, two brothers,  Clarence, of this city, and  Thomas of Akron, Ohio, and three sisters,  Misses Carrie and  Carris both at home, and  Mrs. Russell [Gertrude] Stine, this city.

          George Emerich died at his home in Jackson township, at 11 p.m. Sunday, October 11th, age 49 years.  He leaves a family.  Funeral services at Roberts’ Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 13th, conducted by Rev. Samuel D. Hawkins.  Interment in St. George’s cemetery, in charge of  John White.
