VIRGIL  W.  EWICK
DIED  UNEXPECTEDLY

          Virgil W. Ewick,  widely known resident of this city, died unexpectedly at 4:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home, 417 west Gendricks street, following a brief period of illness.  His deat was a sudden shock to his many friends in the community and will be sincerely mourned.  Mr. Ewick had been ill only since Monday of this week, suffering from an [not legible] ent.  His condition rapidly became worse and Wednesday afternoon little hope was held for his recovery.
          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon from the late home with the Rev. Paul E. Million, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating.  Burial will be in the Lewis Creek Baptist cemetery with C. F. Fix & Son, funeral directors.
          Mr. Ewick was the son of  Daniel and Elizabeth Ewick,  pioneer residents of this community and was born in Hendricks township , March 27, 1876, being at the time of death, fifty-four years, ten months and twenty-six days old.  In 1903, he was united in marriage to  Miss Mary Sawyer  who preceded him in death several years ago.  They were the parents of one son,  Laurel B[?]. Ewick,  who survives.  He also leaves a half-brother,  Thomas Ewick,  and a half-sister,  Mrs. Thomas Banks,  both of this city, and a step-daughter,  Mrs. Walter W[not legible],  of Shelbyville and his mother-in-law,  Mrs. Mary Sawyer,  who resided at his home.
