HENRY  FARLEY  PASSED  AWAY
----------
Former Resident of Shelbyville, Died in Oklahoma Sunday Night
----------
BODY  TO  BE  BROUGHT  HERE
----------
Henry Farley, age sixty-three years, for many years a cab driver in Shelbyville, died Sunday night at the home of his son J. Ed Farley, in Wynona, Oklahoma.  Word of his death was received here today by his daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Antle, of South Tompkins street.  The body of Mr. Farley will be brought to the home of the daughter, and is expected to arrive here Wednesday.  Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Ralph J. Edwards.  Mr. Farley's death was caused by paralysis.  He suffered the stroke which resulted in his death about two weeks ago.  He was born in Durbin [Dearborn?] County, Indiana.  His parents moved here when he was an infant, and Mr. Farley had made his home here until about two years ago, when he went to Oklahoma.  He drove a cab in Shelbyville for twenty-six years.  He was known to practically all of the residents of this city.  When he disappeared from his cab, it was as if a landmark in the town had passed.  Mr. Farley is survived by his widow, his son, with whom he lived, and the daughter,  Mrs. Antle, and two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Knight of Missouri, and  Mrs. Sue Crafton of Carbon, Indiana.  He was a member of the Baptist Church here.

IN  OTHER  DAYS
----------
When the body of  Henry Farley  was laid to rest this afternoon, many people recalled other days.  When the city of Shelbyville bought the only steam fire engine the city ever had, it was placed in the old city building on West Washington street.  Two splendid horses were bought for the engine and one for the hose reel.  Mr. Farley was employed to care for the horses and to drive the engine team.  It fell to his lot to train the horses as they were brought to the fire engine house from the country.  In a remarkable short time he had them bounding to their places under the harness at the tap of the fire bell.  The city at that time had a paid fire department.  Mr. Farley remained in the employment of the city for a number of years.
