The train which passes through that town at four o'clock, like lightning, struck poor Andy, as he was trying to cross the track, knocking him off the same and killing him instantly. His skull was crushed, left arm broken, also his right leg. From an eye witness we get the following: Andy was standing in the door of George Voglesang's saloon, opposite the depot, when the train whistled for the crossing, but a few yards away, and started to cross the track in front of the coming train, and just as he had reached the edge of the track, slipped and fell in front of the engine, which struck and threw him at least fifteen feet into the air. Andy was in the habit of drinking considerable, but was sober when the accident occurred. When he left home, Mr. Wheeler gave him fifty cents, and when searched Thursday evening he had twenty cents of the money left. Andy will be remembered as the young man who had his watch stolen sometime ago by a room mate, who was afterwards caught at Fairland and sent to the penitentiary. He was twenty-two years of age, single and a son of the late James Farrell, of Shelby township. The coroner was called and held an inquest, and will return a verdict in accordance with the above facts. The deceased was buried at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Funeral was held at St. Vincent Church, Father Gentz officiating.

William Farrell died at his home in Addison township, three miles southeast of this city, at 5:20 p.m., Thursday, September 25th, of heart trouble, age eighty years. Funeral services were held at the St. Vincent Catholic church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Father Guthneck officiating. Cummins & Edwards funeral directors. The death of Mr. Farrell removes from our midst one of the oldest settlers of the county and takes from us a man who was generally recognized as a model in all affairs of life. The deceased was one of the best friends this paper had, and in common with everybody we bow in the deepest sorrow at his death.
