          We wish to thank our neighbors and all other friends for their kindness and sympathy shown us after the sudden death of our beloved father,  William Goff,  and to assure them their acts will ever be held in grateful remembrance.  Chaney Goff  and family.

SAD DEATH
----------

          Mrs. Ellen Goff, a daughter of  Mr. Lafe Davidson, died last Saturday at Oswego, Kansas.  Mr. Davidson has the sympathy of all of his friends over the severe loss he has sustained.  He received the following dispatch that afternoon:
        Oswego, Kansas, April 5, 1884
        E. L. Davidson, Shelbyville, Indiana:
        Ellen died at six o’clock this morning.
