JOSEPH P. GORE DIED
AT HOSPITAL TODAY

Joseph P. Gore, lifelong
resident of Shelbyville and one of the city’s most widely known
men, died at 3 o’clock this morning at the William S. Major
hospital from a complication of diseases, following an operation. On
Thursday of last week, he underwent an operation for appendicitis and
his condition had since been critical. His death was a shock to the
many friends in this community.
Funeral services are to be conducted
at the St. Joseph Catholic church in this city, the hour to be
announced later. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery with
Charles M. Ewing, funeral director in charge.
Mr. Gore was a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. James A. Gore and was born in Shelbyville, August 26,
1883, being at the time of death, forty-six years, six months and
five days old. On August 5, 1908 he was united in marriage with Miss
Kate Brill and to this union four children were born, all of
whom survive.
Besides the widow he leaves the
children, James, Mary Ann, Susie and Jack Gore, all at home; a
brother, Earl Gore, of Springfield, Illinois; five sisters, Mrs. Mary J. Dill,
Mrs. Anna Smith and the Misses Elizabeth and Nora Gore, all of Indianapolis, and
Mrs. Carrie Plunkett
of this city.

Mrs. Sarah A. Gore, Native of County,
Died At Indianapolis Tuesday

BURIAL HERE ON THURSDAY

Mrs. Sarah A. Gore, age seventy seven, widow of
James A. Gore,
native of Shelby county and a resident of Shelbyville, died Tuesday evening at
four-twenty o’clock at her home, 120 West Twelfth street, Apartment Six,
Indianapolis. Her death was caused by uraemic poisoning.
Mrs. Gore was born in Marion township, and lived in Marion for a number of
years. Later she lived in Shelbyville, leaving here eighteen years ago for
Indianapolis, where she had since made her home. She is survived by five
daughters, Mrs. Frank [Mary J.] Dill, Mrs. C. W. [Carrie B.] Plunkett,
Mrs. Anna W. Smith, and Misses Elizabeth and Nora Gore, all of
Indianapolis; two sons, Joseph Gore, of Shelbyville, and Earl Gore,
of Springfield, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Mary J. Meloy, of Shelbyville,
and one brother, John McBride, of Shelbyville. Eight grandchildren and
two great-great grandchildren, also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at nine o’clock at St.
Peter and Paul Cathedral, Indianapolis. The body will be brought here for burial
in the St. Joseph cemetery Thursday morning at 11:30 o’clock. Friends may view
the body at the grave.

Margaret M. Gore, the eldest daughter of Mrs. Sarah Gore, died
at her home, 42 West Locust street, at one-forty-five o’clock Thursday
afternoon of lung trouble. She had been a patient sufferer for many months and
her death was no surprise to friends who many weeks ago realized the young woman
could not withstand the ravages of the disease.
Her father died several years ago. Five sisters, four residing in this city—
Anna, Carrie, Elizabeth and Nora, two bothers,
Joe of Shelbyville and Earl of Nashville, Tennessee and the mother survive.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic church, of which
denomination she was a devout member, at nine o’clock Saturday morning. Interment will be made in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may view the remains from
four o’clock this afternoon until eight o’clock tomorrow evening.

William J. Gore died at the residence of his mother, Mrs. James
[Sarah Ann] Gore, No. 42 West Locust street, at 4 a.m. Sunday of lung
trouble, aged thirty-six years, eight months and twenty days. Funeral services
Wednesday morning at St. Joseph’s church at 9 o’clock. Interment in St.
Joseph Cemetery. D. B. Wilson & Son have charge.

DEATH OF JAMES GORE

Well Known Citizen Passes Away at Twelve-thirty
----------
James A. Gore, known to almost everyone in this city, died at
twelve-thirty today. He has been ill for less than two weeks and his death has not been expected until within the last few hours.
Mr. Gore was born [April 10, 1839] in Ireland.
For many years he has lived here working at his trade, that of a shoemaker. At one time he was city
treasurer. At all times he has enjoyed the esteem and friendship of all with whom he came in contact.
Two daughters are absent from the city at present.
Miss Anna Gore is at Marietta, Ohio, and Miss Lizzie Gore is at Tipton. Telegrams
announcing the sad and unexpected news have been dispatched to both of them.

James Patrick Gore, son of James A. and Sarah A. [McBride] Gore,
died at their residence, No. 100 East Broadway, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, August
18, 1896, of lung trouble, aged twenty-two years, eleven months and eleven days.
The remains will be buried Thursday, August 20, services at the St. Joseph
Catholic church at eight a.m. Interment in the St. Joseph cemetery. The
following pall bearers have been selected: Joseph Fastlaben, Joseph Sprawl,
Charles Baning, James McBride, Frank Campbell and John
Burns.
