ALLEN GRIMES DEAD
AT HIS HOME IN FAIRLAND

Passed Away Tuesday Evening
Following a Lingering Illness

Allen Grimes, one of the highly respected residents of the county,
died at his home in Fairland at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening, after a lingering
illness from a complication of diseases.
Mr. Grimes was born in the state of Ohio, February 12, 1844, and at his death
was 71 years, 11 months and 10 days old. He came to Shelby county when a young
man, settling in Jackson township. He was married to Christina Emerick,
March 27, 1867. To them were born four children, who survive him. They are
Jacob
Grimes, Mrs. Martin [Mary] Yarling and Mrs. Emma Fouty,
all of this county,
and Mrs. Rose Fouty, of Franklin county. He was a member of Fairview
M. P.
church.
Mr. Grimes located on a farm in Moral township about forty-six years ago,
where he continued to reside until the death of his wife, which occurred seven
years ago, since which time he had resided in Fairland, having married a second
time, the bride being Mrs. Amanda (Ensley) Palmer, a former resident of
this city. She survives him.
Funeral services will be held at the Forest Hill chapel at 2 o’clock
Thursday afternoon. The interment will be made in Forest Hill in charge of
Hendrickson & Sleeth.
