LOCAL MAN DIES FROM PARALYSIS

Albert Gue, Age 53, Succumbed To Stroke
Yesterday Afternoon At His Home

FUNERAL TO BE THURSDAY

Albert Gue, age 53, died at his home at 825 South Tompkins street,
yesterday afternoon at four o’clock, of a stroke of paralysis following a
three weeks illness. He had been in semi-serious condition for some time, but he
was thought to be gaining strength a short time before his death. He was a charter member of the Lewis Creek lodge of Odd Fellows, and a member
of the local lodge of Moose. He had been employed at the Progress Laundry until
his health began to fall a short time ago.
The deceased was born in Shelby county March 9, 1874, and was married to
Miss
Ella Hill February 3, 1901. To this union eight children were born, six
of whom with the widow survive the father.
The living children are
Mrs. Edith Cochran, at home; Mrs. Catherine
Herthel of this city; Floyd and Miss Florine, both of Chicago;
Miss
Florence and Huston, at home. One grandchild also survives.
One brother and four sisters also survive.
They are Delbert Gue, of
this city; Mrs. Hattie Gannion and Mrs. Mary Lee of Chicago;
Mrs. Cora
Arrant of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Laura Hoban of Waldron.
The funeral will be held at the Flat Rock M. E. Church Thursday afternoon
with the Rev. Charles Payne officiating. Interment will be in the Flat Rock
cemetery in charge of Morris H. Sleeth. The Lewis Creek Odd Fellows lodge will
hold services at the cemetery.

DEATHS AND FUNERALS

John R. Gue died at his home in Washington township this morning at 6
o’clock of cancer of the stomach, from which he has been a sufferer for the
past seven weeks. His death had been expected at any time for the past week.
Mr. Gue was born in Virginia, August 9, 1839, making him at the time of his
death seventy-three years, seven months and nineteen days old. He moved to
Decatur county while he was a young man and later moved to this county, having
lived in this county for the past fifty years, and during that time he gained a
large number of friends who will regret to hear of his death.
He was married to Miss Mary Bullard
February 25, 1869, and to this
union were born eight children, two of them having passed from this life before
him. The widow and six children survive him, two sons, Albert and
Delbert
and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Lee, Mrs. Hattie Spurlin,
Miss Cora
Gue and Mrs. Laura Hoban, of this county; also one brother,
William
Gue, of Greensburg.
The funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Floyd Christian church,
Rev. S. D. Hawkins officiating. Interment will be made in the Floyd cemetery by
Hageman & Hendrickson.
