FORMER  COUNTY
RESIDENT  DIES

          Funeral rites will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock in the St. Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church at Spades (Ripley county) for  John Gunter, 85, a former Shelby county resident who died at his home in Spades Wednesday night.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the Cook Funeral Home at Sunman after 7:00 o'clock this evening.
          MR. GUNTER  resided in Shelby county until about 35 years ago.  He had served as a township assessor for more than 25 years.
          Among the survivors are three daughters,  Mrs. Ray T. Miller of Shelbyville;  Mrs. Leona Herron of Columbus and  Mrs. Louis Meyer of Milroy; two sons,  Wilbur Gunter of Spades and  Meredith Gunter of Sunman; a sister,  Mrs. Arthur Gillespie of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
