          James R. Hildebrand, 79, of Arcadia, died February 5, 2004.  He served with the Signal Corps in the U.S. Army.  Mr. Hildebrand was a Deputy Marshal for the Arcadia Police Department and served 42 years with the Arcadia Fire Department, with 20 years as chief.  He was the owner of Hildebrand Body Shop and Wrecker Service in Arcadia.  He was a member and trustee of the Arcadia Church of the Brethren.  Survivors include his wife, Grace L. Hildebrand; son, David Hildebrand; daughter, Lynn Bangle; sister, Luellan Sutton; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2004, at Arcadia Church of the Brethren. Burial at Arcadia Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. February 8, 2004 at Hartley Funeral Homes, Arcadia Chapel.

          Roberta M. "Bobbie" Hilderbrand, 74, Shelbyville, died Aug. 14, 2003.  She was an Associate Professor 22 years for the IU School of Dentistry, retiring in 1994.  Mrs. Hilderbrand was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association and the American Heart Association.  She was a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry and IU Med Center Allied Health.  Contributions:  Lewis Creek Baptist Church in care of funeral home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Aug. 18 in Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17.  Burial:  Lewis Creek Cemetery.  Survivors: son  James "Jay" Hilderbrand; aunt  Rae Nally; grandchild  Bradley Hilderbrand.

Roberta M. “Bobbie” Hilderbrand, 74, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at her home.
Born Nov. 30, 1928, in Shelbyville, d/o  Vora and Vivian (Lucas) McKee.
Married  Carl D. Hilderbrand  in July of 1952, and he preceded her in death in December of 1967.
Survivors include one son, James “Jay” Hilderbrand  of Waldron; one aunt, Rae Nally  of Shelbyville; and one grandson, Bradley Hilderbrand.
Preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Neireimer.
Lifelong Shelbyville resident.
Associate professor at Indiana University School of Dentistry for 22 years, retiring in 1994.
Graduated from Shelbyville High School.  Graduated in 1971 from Indiana University School of Dentistry and in 1972 from Indiana University School of Medicine Allied Health.
Life member of Indiana University Alumni Association and member of American Heart Association.
Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, the Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating.
Burial:  Lewis Creek Cemetery in Shelby County.

Edna M. Hilderbrand, 82, lifelong resident of Shelbyville, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Major Hospital.
Born April 12, 1920, in Shelbyville, d/o  Cleo and Clara (Sandefur) Hendrickson.
Married  Francis D. Hilderbrand  on March 9, 1946, and he survives.
Other survivors:  son, Harold “Butch” Hilderbrand  of Shelbyville; one daughter, Daleen McDonald  of Shelbyville; one brother, Harold Hendrickson  of Shelbyville; two granddaughters, Dawn Barnes  and  Mandy Wainscott, both of Shelbyville.
Preceded in death by one grandson, Shane Alan McDonald.
Homemaker.
Member of American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer for several years in the offices at Hendricks and Pearson elementary schools.

Lifelong Shelby county resident, lived with son.
Born January 17, 1882, s/o  James and  Mary J. Hildebrand.
Married  Emma Tucker; she died in 1936.
Survivors:  children,  Mrs. Virginia Mark, R. R. 5, Shelbyville,  Samuel J. Hildebrand, Shelbyville,  Glenn Curtis Hildebrand, Franklin R. R. 4;  nine grandchildren;  one brother,  Elmer Hildebrand  and one sister,  Mrs. Edna Hasch, both of Shelbyville.
Services:  Carmony Funeral Home, Shelbyville.
Burial:  Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery.

CITY  WOMAN  DIES  AT  HOME

          A heart attack caused the sudden death of  Mrs. Charity M. Hilderbrand, 63, at her home, 119 Elizabeth St., Sunday at 9:45 a.m.  She had been in failing health for several weeks but her condition had not been serious.
          A resident of Shelbyville for 40 years, Mrs. Hilderbrand was born in Johnson county on February 20, 1890.  Her parents were  William B. and  Anna (Hamilton) Thurston.  Her marriage to  Clarence M. Hilderbrand  took place on August 20, 1907, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1950.  She is survived by three children, Mrs. Dorcas Fuller  and  Edna Hilderbrand  at home, and  Francis Hilderbrand  of this city.  Also surviving are three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Babb  of  Tremway, O.
          Last rites will be held at the Murphy Mortuary at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday with Dr. H. R. Page officiating.  Interment will be at Forest Hill cemetery.  Friends may call at the mortuary.

RESIDENT  OF  FLAT  ROCK  DIES

          William Hildebrand, age 81, a lifelong resident of the Flat Rock community, died Friday morning at 1:26 at the Columbus hospital.  He suffered a stroke of paralysis seven weeks ago and was taken to the hospital last Monday.
          Mr. Hildebrand was a member of the Flat Rock Methodist church.  His wife died many years ago.  He is survived by a son, Frank Hildebrand, who is confined to an Indianapolis hospital; one sister, Miss Jennie Hildebrand, who resided with him in Flat Rock, and several nieces and nephews.
          Funeral services will be held at the late home in Flat Rock Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Alda Carter officiating.  Burial will be made in the Flat Rock cemetery.  The body will be taken to the late home Saturday morning and friends may call there.

MRS. HUPP  OF  FLAT  ROCK  DIES
Funeral To Be Held At 2:30 P.M. Saturday At Late Home

          Mrs. Lucinda Hupp, 79, died at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at her home in Flat Rock.  Death resulted from paralysis with which she was stricken seven weeks ago.
          Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. George Murphy.  Burial will be in the Flat Rock cemetery.
          Mrs. Hupp was the widow of  Henry Hupp  and spent her entire life in the Flat Rock community. She was a member of the Methodist church.
          Surviving besides the son, William Hupp  of Columbus, are a sister and a brother, Miss Jennie Hildebrand  and  William Hildebrand at Flat Rock; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Miss Minnie Hildebrand Passes Away At Home In Flat Rock

          Miss Minnie Hildebrand, 53, died at her home in Flat Rock Sunday evening at 7:30 o'clock, of a complication of ailments.  She is survived by two sisters and a brother, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Lucinda Hupp,  Miss Jennie Hildebrand  and  Will Hildebrand.  Miss Hildebrand had lived in Flat Rock practically all her life.  She was the daughter of George and Rebecca Hildebrand.  Funeral services will be held at the Flat Rock M. E. church of which the deceased was a member.  R. W. Davis will officiate and burial will take place in the Flat Rock cemetery.

Mrs. Linnie Hildebrand, Of Flat Rock
Passed Away At Columbus Hospital
CAUSED FROM GALL STONES

          Mrs. Linnie Hildebrand, wife of  William Hildebrand, of Flat Rock, died this morning at three o'clock at the Columbus hospital following an operation for gallstones.  She was fifty-eight years of age.
          Mrs. Hildebrand had lived at Flat Rock practically all her life and was a well known resident in that community.  She was a member of the Methodist church at Flat Rock and had been a very active worker in that church.
          Besides the husband, she is survived by one son, Frank Hildebrand, of Indianapolis; her mother, Mrs. Samuel Peterson, of Woodward, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Amos Stites  also of Oklahoma and another of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and two brothers, George  and  Willis Peterson, of Oklahoma.
          Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Flat Rock M. E. church, the Rev. Macklin officiating. Burial will be made in the Flat Rock cemetery.

AGED  WOMAN  DIES  AT  FLAT  ROCK
Mrs. Rebecca Hildebrand Passed Away Tuesday Evening At Five O'Clock
EIGHTY-SIX  YEARS  OF  AGE

          Mrs. Rebecca Hildebrand  of Flat Rock passed away last evening at five o'clock at her home after several week's illness. Death was caused from hardening of the arteries.  Mrs. Hildebrand was 86 years of age and celebrated her birthday last March.
          She was a devoted member of the Methodist church, which she joined as a child.
          Three daughters and one son are left to mourn her loss, and all reside at Flat Rock, Mrs. Lucinda Hupp,  Misses Jennie  and  Minnie Hildebrand  and  Will Hildebrand.
          She is survived by three grandchildren, Will Hupp, of Columbus;  Ray Hupp, of Manilla and  Frank Hildebrand, of Southport.
          A peculiarity about the death of Mrs. Hildebrand is that her husband, George Hildebrand  took ill on the same day of the same month and expired on the 27th of September, one day later than her death. Both were taken ill on the last day of the month of August and died from the same cause.
          Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Methodist church with interment in that cemetery. [Flat Rock cemetery]

FLAT  ROCK  MAN  DIED  SATURDAY
George Hildebrand, Owner And Manager Of The Flat Rock Hotel
Died From Hemorrhage Of The Brain

          George Hildebrand, aged eighty-two years, one of the best known of the residents of the south part of the county, died at his home in Flat Rock Saturday night.  His death was caused by hemorrhage of the brain.  Mr. Hildebrand had been in ill health for some time and for the last several days his condition has been such that it was known that he could not recover.
           About five years ago he was injured badly in a fall and had never fully recovered from the effects of this.
           For the last thirty-five years, Mr. Hildebrand had owned and managed the hotel at Flat Rock.  In that way he had become acquainted with a large number of persons.
           Mr. Hildebrand is survived by his widow [Rebecca], now eighty-one years old.  He also leaves one son, Will Hildebrand, of Flat Rock, and three daughters, Mrs. Cynda Hupp, who lived with her father and mother, and  Minnie  and  Jennie, who also live at home.
           The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church at Flat Rock.  Burial will be made in the Flat Rock cemetery.

DEATHS AND FUNERALS

          Miss Rachel Hildebrand, aged 45 years, of Flat Rock, died at the Mercy hospital at Columbus, Indiana, Saturday afternoon, December 3, 1910, at 3 o'clock, following an operation performed about ten days ago for the removal of an abdominal tumor that has been troubling her for some time.  At the time of the operation she withstood the ordeal remarkably well and there were strong hopes for her recovery.  Complications soon developed, however, and her condition became such that her relatives were aware that she could not be spared to them.  Miss Hildebrand was a lovable character and a devout Christian holding membership in the M. E. church at Flat Rock.  She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hildebrand, and by three sisters and one brother - Mrs. Lucinda Hupp, and  Minnie  and  Jennie  and  Will Hildebrand.  She has several relatives in this city and is quite well known here.  The body was removed to the home of her parents at Flat Rock Saturday night and the funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. Watkins, pastor of the M. E. church officiating.  The interment will be made in the Flat Rock cemetery.

          Della, wife of  Joseph Hildebrand, died at the residence of her brother,  Willis Cramer, in Brandywine township, October 12, at eleven a.m., aged twenty-seven years.  Funeral from Second Mt. Pleasant Church at twelve a.m., October 13, interment in charge of Hageman & Pile.  The home of the deceased was in Illinois, she being in Shelby county on a visit to relatives.
