HOOSIER  FLIER  KILLED  IN
NEWLY-PURCHASED  PLANE
----------
Shelbyville, Ind., June 23
A few minutes after buying an airplane today from Seymour Aviation club,  Howard Howell, 23, of Shelbyville, was killed when the ship went into a dive and crashed on the  Elmer Amos  farm, 11 miles southeast of here.  The ship caught fire, witnesses said, immediately after hitting the ground.  Robert Curry, of the Seymour Aviation club, reported the plane was in good condition when Howell took off from the airport there, but failed to gain altitude rapidly and struck the topmost branches of a tree at the outskirts of the field.  Howell righted the plane; however Curry said, and continued his f light.
