OBITUARY
-------
Ira Fountain Huffman  was born October 1, 1881, and was the sixth of eight children, five girls and three boys, that came to bless the home of  Gideon H. and Susan E. Huffman.  Ira was a dutiful son and a loving brother and leaves many sorrowing relatives and friends to mourn their loss.  Little did this bereaved home think March 30, 1901, when they laid to rest their beloved son, Edward Smith, and two months later their two little grandchildren, that they would be called upon in less than a year to again submit to the winged messenger of death that must take from them their beloved son and brother,  Ira.  But God works in a mysterious way his wonders to perform, and now we see darkly, but there comes a time to all faithful followers of Christ when they shall know why His ways are mysteries now, and know that God's ways are best.  On the morning of the 22nd Ira was warned, as it seemed, by the spirit of the approaching messenger, death, and he talked freely to his parents, saying he was not afraid to die and if it was the will of the Lord to call him away in the prime of his life he was ready, for said he, I have placed my trust in God and He doeth all things well.  His demise came March 23, 1902, after a lingering illness, aged 29 years, 5 months and 22 days.

Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep
From which none ever wake to weep
A calm and undisturbed repose
Unbroken by the last of foes
Asleep in Jesus! Far from thee
Thy kindred and their graves may be
But thine is still a blessed sleep
From which none ever wake to weep
