Doris Jean Jeffries, 76, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born February 24, 1936, in Orange County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Carlos E. and Lela E. (Goodpaster) Redd. She married Carl R. “Dick” Jeffries on August 14, 1959, and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2000.
Survivors include her sons, Barry A. Jeffries and Garry R. (Twyla) Jeffries and Terry E. (Shannon) Jeffries, all of Shelbyville; brothers, Steven (Ann) Redd of Greensburg, Jeff Redd of Milford and Keith Redd of Shelbyville; sisters, Virginia Higdon of Litchville, Kentucky, Frieda Redd and Susan Redd, both of Indianapolis and Betty (Tom) Pogue of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Lela Jeffries and Seth Jeffries and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John L. Redd, Malcolm Redd, Andrew Redd and Alan Lee Redd.
Mrs. Jeffries was a member of Hope’s Point Baptist Church. She graduated from Orleans High School in 1954. Mrs. Jeffries formerly worked at TRW Cinch for 26 years and as a cook in the Eagles Kitchen for four years. She enjoyed fishing and feeding the birds and squirrels. Doris was a loving person always willing to help anyone in need whether she knew them or not.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, October 19, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the funeral home, with Revs. Ed Mohr, David Humphreys and Fred Shelton officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Decatur/Shelby, 1201 N. Lincoln St., Suite A, Greensburg, Indiana 47240.

Mrs. Helen M. Jeffries, 71, 33 McKinley St.,
died at 2:30 this morning, Major Hospital. Hospitalized since Christmas Day.
Survived
by her husband of 46 years, James A. Jeffries.
Born in Rush County on Sept. 30, 1906, d/o Henry and Laura (Cutter) Josiah.
Married on Feb. 25, 1933.
A sister, Mrs. Elbert (Geneva) Meadows of Wanamaker,
also survives.
Member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Rev. William W. Ernst officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent Catholic Church
Cemetery.

Mrs. Edith Josephine Jeffries, 43, R.R.5, died of complications at Major Hospital at 3:00 p.m. Sunday. She had been ill for two months.
The daughter of James and Matilda (Baker) Pool, she was born in this city on February 4, 1914. She was married to Vern Jeffries of this city, and he survives with three children, Ralph of Rushville, Evelyn Lucille and Joyce Ann, both at home, and her mother, of this city. Other survivors include four brothers, Robert M., James B. and Edward Lee Pool, all of this city, and Eugene Pool of Hastings, Mich. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Jeffries was a member of the Moscow Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Murphy Mortuary with Rev. C. M. Hager officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary.
