Rites for Local Man To Be Held Thursday

Burley R. Jordan, lifelong resident of Shelby county and resident of this city for 15 years, died at his home, 1117 Elm street, at 2:30 p.m. Monday.  Ill for six months but death, attributed to pulmonary hemorrhage.
Retired farmer, was born near Flat Rock September 21, 1886, a son of  Philander and  Prudence Jordan.
Married September 12, 1912, to Amy Holder who survives with two daughters,  Mrs. Prudence Harrison of Franklin and  Mrs. Kathryn Franklin of Muncie.
Also surviving:  7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters,  Mrs. Grace Beatty, Shelbyville, and  Mrs. Anna Treon of Mt. Auburn.
Member of the West Street Methodist Church. 
Ewing Mortuary Thursday.
Interment:  Forest Hill cemetery.

Former Edinburg Resident
Dies at Daughter's Residence

          Avory Jordan, seventy-nine years old, former resident of Edinburg, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ethel Schnarr, in Flat Rock at 10:30 o'clock this morning after a short illness.
           The deceased was born in Bartholomew county August 18, 1855, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Avery Jordan.  He had been a resident of Edinburg for twenty-five years, going to Flat Rock last November to live.  Mr. Jordan was married to  Effie Phelps  whose death occurred in November, 1934.  He was an active member of the Edinburg M. E. Church.
          Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Ethel Schnarr, three grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be announced later.

SERVICES  TO  BE  FRIDAY

          Funeral services for  Avory Jordan, who died Wednesday in Flat Rock, will be conducted at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Edinburg M.E. Church with burial in Rest Haven cemetery in Edinburg.  Mr. Jordan, a former resident of Edinnburg, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ethel Schnarr.

          Funeral serivces for Mrs. Effie K. Jordan, 71, wife of Avery Jordan, who died Sunday night at 11:00 o'clock, at her home 611 Kyle street, in Edinburg, will be held at the Edinburg M. E. church of which she was a member.  Burial will be in the Rest Haven cemetery.
          Mrs. Jordan, who had been ill only a short time, was born in Indiana, on March 29, 1863, the daughter of  Milten and Malinda Tapscot Phelps.  She was married to Mr. Jordan August 18, 1878.  She was a member of the Gleaners Society.
          Survivors besides the husband are one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Schnarr, of Flat Rock, and one brother, James Phelps of Indianapolis.

After Lingering Illness

ANNOUNCE  FUNERAL  LATER

          Death occurred early this morning at 1:30 o'clock to Mrs. Prudence Jordan at her home in Flat Rock after a lingering illness, due to cancer.  She had been critically ill for the past week. She was 66 years of age.
          Mrs. Jordan was a resident of that community for many years and had won the admiration of many friends.  She was known for her pleasant ways and courteous treatment to all with whom she came in contact.  She was a member of the Pythian Sisters of Flat Rock and the Roberts M.P. Chapel west of Flat Rock.
          She is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs. Will Treon, of Mt. Auburn, Mrs. Grace Beatty and Burley Jordan, of Flat Rock.  Three half brothers, Landy and Freemont, of St. Louis Crossing and Ben Ensley, of Taylorsville and one half sister, Mrs. Ed Hill, of Nineveh.  Also a sister who resides in Kansas.  Funeral arrangements will be completed Saturday following word from Kansas.           Mrs. Arbella Jordan, widow of William Jordan, who died seven years ago, passed away this morning at 5:55 o’clock at her home in north Moral township two miles south of Fountaintown, death being caused by a stroke of paralysis suffered two weeks ago. Mrs. Jordan was 68 years of age.
          Surviving are seven children:  Mrs. William Blackford and Mrs. Myrtle Moore of Greenfield; Mrs. Ed Cummins of Fairland; Perry Jordan of New Palestine; Frank Jordan; Mrs. Mary Castor and Mrs. Eva Branyan of Indianapolis; one brother, John Fox of Cincinnati, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Helms of Wisconsin.  Funeral services will be held at the late home Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and burial will be made in the New Palestine cemetery in charge of Max Herrlich and Son undertakers New Palestine.  Rev. Martin pastor of the New Palestine M.E. Church will officiate.

Albert E. Jordan, Of Flat Rock, Died Monday
At Southern Camp

INFLUENZA  VICTIM

          Albert E. Jordan, age 24 years, son of  Mrs. Prudence Jordan, who resides two miles northwest of Flat Rock, died yesterday afternoon at a camp near Montgomery, Alabama, of pneumonia.  Mr. Jordan had been in training there since August 4, and was taken ill with influenza about a week ago, which later developed into pneumonia.  He was born May 28, 1894, and had spent practically all of his life near Flat Rock.  He was married a year ago, to Miss Hazel Wyrick, of Flat Rock.
          Mr. Jordan was well known throughout the county as a fine young man, and his many friends will be grieved to learn of his death.
          Besides his widow and mother he is survived by one brother and two sisters, the brother being Burley Jordan, who resides in Flat Rock.  The sisters are Mrs. Will Treon, and Mrs. Grace Beatty, both of whom lived in Flat Rock.
          The body will arrive some time tomorrow.  Funeral arrangements will be made later. [Buried Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburg]
