Z. KEPLEY DIES

Rites Saturday for
VanBuren Township Man
------------
Zeno Kepley, 79 years old, died at his home in VanBuren township seven miles north of Shelbyville, Wednesday night about 8 o'clock.
Mr. Kepley was born in Marion township on April 3, 1858. He married Alice Wickliff on June 8, 1882, and one daughter was born to the union. The daughter, Clara, died several years ago. Mrs. Kepley passed away in July of 1931.
The deceased was the last of his family and had always been a farmer.
Funeral services will be held at the Liberty U.B. church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. E.R. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Liberty cemetery in charge of Morris Sleeth, funeral director. Friends may call at the home anytime after noon Friday.

DIES SUDDENLY

Heart Attack Is Fatal to
Well Known Farmer,
72 Years Old

George Kepley, 72 years old, died at his farm home, in Marion township, seven miles northeast of Shelbyville, at 4:40 o'clock Thursday afternoon.
Death was caused by heart disease from which he had been suffering for about two months. Mr. Kepley had done his farm chores and come in the house to rest. He suffered a heart attack at 4:40 o'clock and died ten minutes later. Mr. Kepley was born in Marion township, near the home where he died, October 10, 1863. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kepley. On November 25, 1930, he married Mrs. Marie Hall.
Survivors, besides the widow, are one son, George Gene, 4 years old; two step-daughters, Carol June and Ruth Hall; one brother, Zeno Kepley, of Marion township; and one nephew, Oris Kepley, of near Shelbyville.
He had been a farmer all his life. Mr. Kepley was a member of the Liberty
U. B. church and of the Knights of Pythias lodge of Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be held at the Liberty church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The Rev. E.R. Schwartz, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Morris H. Sleeth, funeral director. Friends may call at the late home anytime.

DIES AFTER EIGHT WEEKS' ILLNESS

Mrs. Lecta E. Kepley, Age 62,
Passes Away At Home In Marion Township

FUNERAL FRIDAY MORNING

Following an illness of eight weeks, Mrs. Lecta E. Kepley, 62 years old, widow of David Kepley, died at her home in Marion township Tuesday evening at 6:15 o'clock. She had spent her entire life in this county.
Mrs. Kepley was the daughter of Lafayette and Margaret Thomas, and was born October 15, 1867. Her husband died about ten years ago. She was a member of the Brandywine M.E. church, and took an active part in the work of that church.
Surviving her are one son, Oris E. Kepley, at home; a sister, Mrs. Mary Bassett of Marion township, and four brothers; John M. Thomas, of Dayton, Ohio; S. E. Thomas, of Pharr, Texas; E. C. Thomas, of Marion township and Henry E. Thomas of Newcastle.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock in the home where she died, Rev. W.A. Ryland of the Fairland M.E. church officiating. Burial will take place in the Forest Hill cemetery, Ralph J. Edwards in charge.

PIONEER WOMAN DIES AT HOME

Death Of Mrs. Melvina Kepley, Age 85,
Occurs Friday At Marion Township Home

HOLD FUNERAL MONDAY

Mrs. Melvina Kepley, age 85, a member of a pioneer family of Shelby county, died at her home in Marion township, seven miles north of the city at 11:30 o'clock Friday morning. The deceased had been in ill health for the last two years and death was the result of senility. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Zeno Fox, Mrs. Kepley was born in Marion township, one-half mile south of Marion, October 5, 1841. Her mother who was Martha Kaster was the first white child born in Shelby county. The family moved to the home where Mrs. Kepley's death occurred when she was one year of age. She has resided there continously for the last eighty-four years. Her marriage to Andrew Kepley took place April 15, 1858. The husband died March 19, 1865 while serving as a Union soldier in the civil war in a hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he was buried.
Surviving Mrs. Kepley are two sons, George, at home, and Zeno, of VanBuren township, one grandson, Oris Kepley of near Shelbyville; one half-sister, Mrs. Warren [Martha] Cole of VanBuren township. Mrs. Kepley had been a member of the Christian church for many years. She was a woman of estimable character and widely known.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Monday afternoon at the Liberty United Brethern church in Liberty township with Rev. T.J. Wilson of this city officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Morris Sleeth, funeral director. Friends may call at the home at any time.

Mrs. William H. Kessler Died Wednesday
At Home Near Meltzerville

FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY

Mrs. Cora Mae Kessler, age thirty-five years, wife of William H. Kessler, died Wednesday afternoon at four o’clock at their home on the old Meltzer homestead, one-half mile south of Meltzerville. Her death was caused by a complication of diseases, with which she had been ill for some time.
Mrs. Kessler was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Meltzer of Union township. She was born in Shelby county on November 3, 1888, and had lived all her life in the county. She was a member of the Vienna Methodist Episcopal church.
Besides her husband she leaves her parents, and one brother, Brady Meltzer, of Union township. George Ensminger, of this city, was an uncle of
Mrs. Meltzer.
Funeral services will be conducted at the home Friday morning at ten o’clock, the Rev. R.O. Pearson, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Waldron, officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery, R. T. Stewart in charge.

At His Home In Marion Township

FUNERAL MONDAY MORNING

David W. Kepley, age fifty-nine years, well known farmer of Marion township, died Friday night at eight o'clock, at his home 3 1/2 miles north of Shelbyville. His death was caused by heart trouble. Mr. Kepley had been ill for six weeks.
He was a native of Shelby county and had lived all his life in Marion township. He was born in that township in 1861, and was a son of Andrew and Melvina [Fox] Kepley. Mr. Kepley was a member of the Brandywine Methodist Episcopal church, having been affiliated there for many years. He was a member of Chillon lodge, Knights of Pythias of this city.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Etchia [Electa] Kepley, one son, Oris at home, his mother, Mrs. Melvina Kepley, and two brothers, Zeno Kepley and George Kepley, both of Marion township.
Funeral services will be held at the home Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock, the Rev. M.E. Able officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery, Ralph J. Edwards in charge.

Jesse L. Kepley, born and raised in Shelby county, died near San Antonio, Texas, on the 20th of June, age fifty-one years and twenty-one days. He died of an ulcer, after being crippled for seventeen years. He left a wife, daughter and two little sons.
