FATHER OF CITY MAN SUCCUMBS

James L. Kingsbury, age eighty-one, father of Layman D. Kingsbury, secretary of the Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce, died Wednesday at his home at 348 Layman avenue, in Indianapolis. His death occurred suddenly, a few hours after he became ill.
Mr. Kingsbury was assessor of Warren township in Marion county and was a candidate for renomination on the Republican ticket. He had also served two terms as a Republican state representative and was completing his second term as assessor. A native of Putnamville, he graduated from Wabash college in 1883 and later was active in newspaper publishing work.
Surviving with the son are the widow, Mrs. Minnie Kingsbury, of Indianapolis; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Shirley Bros. Irvington mortuary and burial will be made in Crown Hill cemetery.
