Frank Listenberger, 70, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013, at his residence. He was born April, 28, 1943, to Lawrence Listenberger and Lucille (Hudson) Listenberger-Fleener. Donald Fleener Sr. was his stepfather, who raised him. On June 20, 1965, he married Madaline (Giltner) Listenberger, and she survives in Shelbyville.
Other survivors include two daughters, Debbie Morningstar and Tammy Shearer (husband, Gary), both of Shelbyville; brother, Bob Fleener (wife, Nancy) of Waldron; two sisters, Shirley Phillips (husband, Randy) of Oregon and Della Stone of Illinois; sisters-in-law, Annie Fleener of St. Paul and Judy Fleener of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Tawni Morningstar, Adam Slinker, Drew Slinker, Zoe Shearer, Bradley Shearer and Brandon Shearer; and four great-grandchildren, Adrianna Shearer, Brody Shearer, McKenzie Shearer and Brynn Shearer.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Karen Hudson and Albert and Goldie Listenberger; parents; two brothers, Lester Fleener and Donald Fleener Jr.; aunt Dorothy Kinney, who was very close to Frank; and great-grandson, Bennett Shearer.
Mr. Listenberger was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Triton High School in 1961. He was a manager at Bonded Oil Co., retiring in 1989 after more than 30 years of service. He then worked at the McDonald's located inside Walmart for six years. He also farmed in his younger years. He was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church. Frank enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and mowing his lawn, playing euchre and watching Westerns on TV. He was also an avid Indiana University basketball fan and coach Bobby Knight fan. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, who meant everything to him.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at the funeral home with the Revs. George Mitchell and Gary Oglesby officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby County Cancer Association in care of the funeral home.

Lawrence E. Listenberger, 61, 148 E. Franklin St., died early today from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to authorities. Mr. Listenberger, who had been in failing health for the past year, died at 4:35 a.m. in Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. He was taken to Major Hospital by the local Emergency Unit at 12:30 a.m. today, and then Mr. Listenberger was later transported to the Indianapolis hospital.
Born June 30, 1918 in Rush County, a son of Albert and Goldie (Gahimer) Listenberger, he married Vivian (Tresler) Badgley May 9, 1970, and she survives. Mr. Listenberger also is survived by one son, Frank Listenberger, Boggstown, and four brothers, the Rev. Lowell Listenberger, Greenwood, the Rev. Lee Oren Listenberger, Brooklyn, Ind., Lelan Listenberger, Converse, and Leslie Listenberger, Marion. One sister preceded in death.
Mr. Listenberger was a retired farmer.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Carmony Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Jewell officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
