Clyde Lovitt, 71, 330 East Jackson street, died suddenly Tuesday, July 8, 1980, at W. S. Major Hospital.
Spent most of his life in Shelby County.
Retired Shelbyville High School custodian. Belonged to the Trinity United Methodist church.
Born November 19, 1908 in McClain County, Illinois, he married Lucille M. Merritt on November 18, 1933 in Greenfield; she survives.
Also surviving: four sons, Dan C. Lovitt and Kenneth Lovitt, both of Shelbyville, William Lovitt, R.R.1 Shelbyville, and Richard C. Lovitt R.R. 3 Shelbyville; a daughter, Mrs. Hal (Carolyn) Rohm, Edinburg; a twin brother, Claude Lovitt, Shelbyville, Shelbyville, 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A brother preceded in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Murphy Mortuary with the Rev. James V. Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home for Kimberly Sue Lovitt, who was stillborn at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at Major Hospital. Rev. M. R. Burgette will officiate and burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Surviving are the parents, William and Donna Sue (Hudson) Lovitt, 302 Walker St.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Lovitt and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hudson; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Hudson, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Craig and Mrs. Hettie Merritt, all of Shelbyville.

DIES AT HOME

Rites for Local Man To
Be Conducted Monday

Ill for the past year with a complication of diseases and in a serious
condition for the past week, Edem E. Lovitt, 73, died at his home at 1147 Meridian Street at 10:30 o‘clock this morning.
Mr. Lovitt was the son of John F. and Lucy (Tripps) Lovitt and was born in Shelby county on November 11, 1875. He spent his early life in and near Geneva and St. Paul and moved to Shelbyville in 1910.
For several years he was employed with the Public Service Company here, but since July of 1946 had been employed by Eugene Sahud of the J.L. Chase Company. Early in life he became a member of the Geneva Christian church.
On December 26, 1919, he was married to Mamie Caldwell, who survives with three [step]children, Delmer M. James of Celina, Ohio; Riley B. James and Mrs. Charles Bailey of this city. Also surviving are six grandchildren including Carla O’Neal, who resided at the Lovitt home, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Ewing mortuary with Dr. Walter Hand officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery.

PLAN RITES FOR
APOPLEXY VICTIM

Funeral arrangements were made today for
Clarence Lovitt, age sixty-two, who
died at the Major hospital at 1-:20 p.m. Sunday afternoon after noon after
suffering an apoplectic stroke shortly before at his home at 47 east Locust
street.
Mr. Lovitt had been taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon. Medical
examination revealed that he had suffered a stroke of cerebral apoplexy. He was
born in Noble township, Shelby county, March 5, 1878, a son of John F. and Ann
Tripps Lovitt. His first wife, nee Glenna Stewart, died in 1922.
His second wife
whose maiden name was Mollie Marr, also preceded him in death in 1933.
He had
been a furniture finisher for a number of years.
A brother, Edam E.
Lovitt, of Shelbyville, survives, in addition to several
nieces and nephews.
The funeral services will be held at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon in the
Charles M. Ewing funeral chapel. Conducting the services will be Rev. Josephine
Huffer, pastor of the Trinity Methodist church and the interment will be in the
VanPelt cemetery.

Service to Be Held at Ewing Funeral Chapel

Mrs. Mollie Lovett, wife of Clarence
Lovett, died at her home at 47 East Locust street at 9:30 o'clock Saturday evening. Death was due to
complications incidental to advanced age. She was about 80 years old at the time of death. No children
were born to the couple. The husband is the only survivor. Services will be held at the Charles Ewing
funeral chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The Rev. Fred Bouse, pastor of the Nazarene church will
officiate and burial will be made in the City cemetery.

Geneva Barber Suffered
Attack of Heart Today

Jess Lovett, barber at Geneva, Noble township,
was found dead in a chair at his shop this morning. His death was caused by an attack of the heart. He
had been in ill health for some time, suffering from organic heart trouble. Funeral arrangements will be
announced by Charles M. Ewing.

Funeral services for Thomas J. Lovitt, age
59, who was found dead at his barber shop in Geneva about eleven o'clock Friday morning will be held at the Geneva
Methodist church at two-thirty o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Merritt Machlin officiating. Burial will
be in the Ogden cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing. The death of Mr. Lovitt was due to organic heart trouble.
Born April 15, 1869, near Smithiand, Mr. Lovitt was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lovitt. He had spent
his entire life in the Shelby county and for forty years had lived in the Geneva community. He had never married.
For thirty years he had followed the barber trade. He was an active and loyal member of the Geneva Methodist church,
with which he had been affilated for twentv-five years. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge
of Geneva. Surviving are two brothers, Clarence Lovitt, of Geneva, and Eden Lovitt, of Shelbyville.

at 1:25 a.m. Wednesday April 23, 1913, of typhoid fever, after a brief illness of eleven days. She was born
in Washington county, September 5, 1840, making her age seventy-two years, seven months and eighteen days. She
had lived in this county for forty-six years. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom with the husband
preceded her to the great beyond. Mrs. Minnie B. Hill, Thomas J. and Clarence of Geneva;
William,
of Scott county, Ind. and Adam E. of St. Paul, survive her. Mrs. Lovitt was an earnest Christian woman
and has been a member of the M.E. church at St. Paul for a number of years. She has many friends and neighbors
who will mourn her demise. Funeral services will be held at the M.E. church in Geneva at 11 a.m. Friday,
April 25th, 1913, the Rev. S.D. Hawkins officiating. Interment will be in the Parrish cemetery in Shelby
township, in charge of Marshall G. Tindall.
