DEATH  OF  GOOD  OLD  CATHOLIC  WOMAN
----------
Mrs. Catherine Lyons Passes Away After Illness Of Few Days
And Over Grief At Actions Of Her Daughter
----------
Grief over the sudden marriage of her daughter,  Miss Catherine Lyons  to  Thomas Vannoy on Thanksgiving, and the sudden departure for the west and old age, probably hastened the death of  Mrs. Catherine Lyons, the end having arrived last night.  Mrs. Lyons has been ill for several months, but her condition did not become critical until last Friday, and then the end was seen to be near.  Mrs. Lyons who was sixty-five years of age received a stroke of paralysis four years ago and from this she never fully recovered.
Mrs. Catherine Lyons was born in Ireland, June 15, 1843. In 1860 she came to America locating in Shelbyville.   One year later she married  John Lyons, who died in 1877.  Several children were born to the union four of whom are living.  Thoroughly the long span of years in widowhood!  Mrs. Lyons gave her devoted and untiring attention to the welfare of her interesting family.  She was a kind hearted and loving mother whose kingdom was her home where she ruled with the mien of a queen.
Mrs. Lyons was a member of the St. Ann Altar Society of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was one of the congregation’s most zealous and persevering workers.
Excepting two years early in married life, Mrs. Lyons always resided where death occurred.
Deceased leaves three daughters and one son,  Mrs. Fred Bastian and  Mrs. Thomas Vannoy, of Los Angeles, California,  Miss Ella Lyons  and  John Lyons, both of this city.  The latter two children were at the bedside of their mother when she passed to the great beyond.
The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two thirty o’clock in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Father Kaelin officiating.  Interment in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
