Louis J. Mathes, 84, former Shelbyville resident, died Friday, Seymour.
Lived in Indianapolis prior to Seymour. Lived in Shelbyville "during his younger years".
Small loan examiner for the state.
WWI veteran.
Married Arlow C. Tate in Shelbyville on June 26, 1926. She died Feb. 25, 1979.
No immediate relatives. Nearest survivor is nephew Robert Arnett, Peoria, Ill.
Murphy Mortuary. Rev. Gary Huffman, officiate. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Arlow C. Mathes, Indianapolis, 79, formerly of Shelbyville, died Sunday morning at home. On June 26, 1926 she married John Louis Mathes, who survives in Shelbyville. Mrs. Mathes was born on Sept. 29, 1899, the daughter of Charles and Martha Jane (Albright) Tate. She moved to Indianapolis several years ago and also had resided in Seymour, In.
Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Marcia Ruby, Peoria, Ill., and Deeana Arnett, Canton, Ill.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Murphy Mortuary, the Rev. Gary Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

JOHN MATHES IS FOUND DEAD

John Mathes, 86, was found dead this morning at his home, 217 E. Mechanic St.
Retired engineer, former employe of the Daniel DePrez Manufacturing Company.
Wife died four years ago.
Survived by a son, Louis Mathes of Seymour, sister in Louisville, Ky.

HEART AILMENT CAUSES DEATH

Mrs. Mary Mathes Dies At Home; Funeral Thursday
---------
A heart condition from which she had suffered for six months caused the death of Mrs. Mary Mathes, 76, Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. at her home at 217 E. Mechanic St. Her condition had been critical for three weeks.
The daughter of Fred and Katherine (Vatter) Benzold, Mrs. Mathes was born in Louisville, Ky., on November 11, 1873. On January 16, 1894, she was married to John Mathes who survives with a son Louis Mathes of Seymour.
Funeral services will be held at the Murphy Mortuary Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Rev Ernest L. Ford will officiate and interment will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 7:00 o'clock this evening.
