Mrs. Nellie Hall Mathews, age sixty-four, sister of Mrs. Kate Pherson, of near Waldron, died at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Hankins, near Milroy. She had been ill with a complication of diseases since December and her condition had been serious for the past month. Mrs. Mathews was born in Decatur county on August 28, 1881, the daughter of Harlan and Elizabeth Hall. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving with the sister, Mrs. Pherson, and the daughter at whose home she died are three sons, Audrey, of Rushville; Russell, of Milroy, and Irvin, near Milroy; two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Herberger, of Illinois and Mrs. Nita Hankins, of near Clarksburg; two brothers, James and Eugene Hall, of Indianapolis, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Murphy funeral home in Milroy Friday at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. R. O. LaHue officiating. Burial will be made in the Presbyterian cemetery at Richland. Friends may call at the funeral home at any time.

Matthews
Mrs. Maude Matthews, 88, 747 Colescott St., died at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Greensburg Nursing Home after an extended illness. She had been a patient there since Aug. 5.
Born April 20, 1888 in Cythiana[sic], Ky., the daughter of John K. and Elizabeth Smith, she was first married to Hollis Lyvers who preceded her in death and later married Fields Matthews, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Burton Lyvers, with whom she made her home and a brother, William Smith, Shelbyville. Two brothers and a sister preceded in death.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was a Dayton, Ohio resident until 1961 when she moved to Shelbyville.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Murphy Mortuary with the Rev. James Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 4:00 p.m. Friday.

Rev. Mathews, of Hanover township, died on Monday in Ohio, and was buried at Hanover Church, near Morristown, yesterday.
