FORMER CITY MAN STRICKEN

Funeral services for Frank M. Murrell, 91, of Astoria, Oregon, will be
held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Murphy Mortuary. Mr. Murrell died Sunday evening at
his home following a one-year illness. He lived in Shelbyville for 60 years and
was a former superintendent of the J. B. Hamilton Furniture Company.
He was the son of John and Christina (Shuppert) Murrell, and was
married to Letitia Smithers, who died in 1932. He was a member of the
West Street Methodist Church of this city and Modern Woodmen Lodge of Astoria.
Surviving are the following children: Raymond Murrell of Indianapolis, Paul W.
Murrell, of Martinsville, Mrs. Nellie Makela of Astoria, Oregon, and Mrs. John
Campbell of Henderson, Nevada. Thirteen grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jerome Hyde and burial will be in
Forest Hill Cemetery.

Passes Away At Home
On South Tompkins Street

SURVIVED BY FIVE CHILDREN

An illness of eight months duration culminated in death at 3:35 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Letishia Murrell, nearly fifty-two years of age, wife of Frank Murrell, in their home at 846 South Tompkins street.
Mrs. Murrell was born in Willetsburg, Kentucky on May 15, 1880. She came to Shelbyville during her childhood. Her marriage to Mr. Murrell of this city took place on August 29, 1900. Besides her husband and her aged mother, Mrs. Mary Smithers, of this city, she leaves five children: Harold, of Shelbyville; Raymond, of Huntington; Paul, Nell and Ruth Murrell, all at home. Two sisters, Mrs. Hattie DeBusk and Mrs. Nellie Mayhew, and a brother, Floyd Smithers, all of Shelbyville, also survive, in addition to six grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at two-thirty o'clock Thursday afternoon in the West Street Methodist church, of which Mrs. Murrell had been a member, nearly all of her life. The Rev. T. E. Adams will officiate and burial will be in the Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Ralph J. Edwards.

William Murrell, Well-Known Here,
Died Early Today At St. Paul

TO HOLD FUNERAL FRIDAY
----------
William Murrell, age 36 years, died Wednesday morning at 6:15 o’clock
at the home of his mother, Mrs. Chris Reiger, at St. Paul. His death followed an
attack of double pneumonia. Mr. Murrell had been ill for several weeks.
Until be became ill he lived in Shelbyville. He was well known here, having
made this city his home the greater part of his life. He was a paper hanger by
occupation.
He leaves besides his mother, one sister
Mrs. (Maud) Kennedy, of this city,
and three brothers, Frank and Tom Murrell, of Shelbyville, and Bert
Murrell, of
Newcastle.
Funeral services will be held at the Union Chapel church Friday afternoon at
2:00 o’clock and burial will be made in the Chapel cemetery, Ralph J. Edwards
in charge.

DEATH OF MISS MURRELL

Occurred This Morning
After a Long Illness
----------
Miss Nellie Murrell, who has been ill for several months, died this
morning at nine o’clock at the home of her mother, Mrs. Christina Murrell,
158 south West street. The ailment was the result of typhoid fever, which
attacked her many weeks ago. Malnutrition developed and her death became a mere
question of time.
She was popular among her many friends. Since childhood she has been an
earnest consistent worker in church circles, her affiliation being with the
Christian church. For years she has been a member of the choir.
Her age was twenty four years, four months and two days. She leaves besides
her mother, four brothers, Frank, Thomas, Albert and
Willie Murrell, and
one sister, Mrs. Albert [Maude] Kennedy. Funeral will be at her late home
Monday at 9 a.m. Rev. H. H. Harmon officiating. Interment in the German Chapel
cemetery, Edwards & Hageman in charge.

DEATH OF JOHN A. MURRELL
----------
John A. Murrell died at 12 noon Wednesday at his home, 61 West South
street, aged 71 years. He leaves a wife and six children, four boys and two
daughters. He served in the late war in Company G. 16th Indiana and in the
76th Indiana as a private. He also served in the 123rd Indiana as Captain.
He
was a member of the G.A.R. under whose auspices his funeral will be held at the
late home, at 9 o’clock, Friday morning, after which his remains will be taken
to the German Chapel, two miles south of St. Paul, f or interment. The funeral
is in charge of Edwards & Hageman.

The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Murrell died at the family residence
in west South street Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Interment was in the St.
Paul cemetery yesterday morning in charge of M. G. Tindall.

12, 1899 in this city. Burial was in the St. Paul cemetery.

Charles, the 14 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Murrell, died at their home on South Pike street of measles last night. The remains will be taken to St. Paul for burial.
