Services  For  Mrs.  Lide  Nelis,  74,

WIFE  OF  THOMAS  NELIS

          Mrs. Lida McKinney Nelis, wife of  Thomas Nelis, died at their home eight miles west of the city on the Franklin road at four o'clock Sunday morning at the age of seventy-four years.  
          Mrs. Nelis was born in Harrison county, Kentucky, on June 21, 1853, the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Perkins.  Her marriage to Jacob McKinney took place on June 30,1881, his death occurring fourteen years ago.  On October 12, 1922, the deceased was married to Thomas Nelis who survives.  
          Two sisters,  Mrs. June Courtney, of Shelby township, and  Mrs. Lucy McKinney of Sadieville, Kentucky, and a brother,  James Perkins, of this city also survive.  
          Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Old Union M. P. church, following short rites at the home at one o'clock.  The Rev. Arville Owens, pastor of the Vine Street M. P. church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Center, cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing.

Mrs. Rose Salina Nealis
----------
          Mrs. Rose S. Nealis, one of Shelbyville's highly respected women, died at her home, 506 Montgomery street, at 7 a.m. Monday, March 11, of consumption.  Mrs. Nealis was born on June 5, 1887. She had been a sufferer of the dreaded disease for the past several months and during all this time she suffered pains and aches without a word.  She was a good neighbor and a kind friend, and her many friends will be grieved to hear of her untimely death.  She was a member of the Vine street M. P. church, to which she had always given her best assistance for the good of her Master.  Mrs. Nealis is survived by her husband, Mr. Samuel Nealis and daughter Roberta, one sister, Mrs. Blanche Critzer; also two half-sisters and four half-brothers; they are Mrs. C. Hoover,  Mrs. James Ross  and  Douglass  and  Lewis Kanouse,  Ira  and  William Chesser.  Funeral services at the Vine Street M. P. church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. A. W. Conn.  Interment in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Hageman, Hawkins & Hendrickson.

DEATH  OF  JOHN  R.  NELIS

          John R. Nelis passed to his last reward at his residence No. 14 Maple St., at 12:30 a.m. November 7th, of lung trouble age 51 years, 11 months and 23 days.  He was born and raised in this county and was married to Melvina Meloy, a daughter of Jesse Meloy, in 1872.  She died one year later leaving him one daughter,  Carrie, now the wife of  J. D. Scott, of South Miller St., this city.  In 1879 he was married to Jane Wilson, daughter of the late E. M. Wilson and wife and to them were born five children,  Mrs. J. D. Scott, of Fort Wayne,  George W.,  Ruth M.,  Annie H., and  Marjara Nelis.  Mr. Nelis was a quiet unobtrusive man, a man who had no enemies, a hard worker, honest, moral and upright, always kind to his family, and his habits were of the best.  His wife and children, all of whom survive him, have lost a loving husband and kind father.  How they will miss him.  He united with the First Presbyterian church of this city about eleven years ago and has lived the life of a Christian ever since.  Funeral services were held at the house, Friday, November 8, at 2 p.m., by Rev. M. Luther Tressler.  Remains will be interred in the Murphy cemetery.  D. B. Wilson & Son funeral directors.
