liam, In This City.
----------
(From Saturday's Daily.)
----------
Samuel T. Nelis, fifty-two years old, well known in this city and county, died at eight-fifteen o'clock Friday evening at the home of his brother, William Nelis, 218 north Pike street, of tuberculosis of the lungs, from which he had been suffering for the past year. His death did not come unexpectedly as the relatives had been summoned to his bedside Thursday and his condition had been critical for the past week.
Mr. Nelis was born in Hendricks township, May 5, 1860, and nearly all of his life was spent in Shelby county. He had been a rsident of this city for several years. His wife, who was Miss Rosal Kanouse before their marriage, died last March. A daughter, Roberta, four years old, survives the parents. Mr. Nelis also leaves three sisters and two brothers -- Mrs. Polk Mitchell and Mrs. Joseph F. Wilson of this city; Mrs. Millard Dugan, near Hartsville; Porter Nelis, of Indianapolis, and the brother at whose home he died.
Mr. Nelis had many friends who will be saddened by the news that he has passed away. Most of them knew of the heroic struggle he made against the encroachments of the dread disease and they will regret his untimely death. He was honest and upright in his dealings and was a kind and loving father, devoted husband, and a neighbor whose acts and words added to the upbuilding of the community he called home.
The funeral services will be held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Vine street M.P. church, the Rev. A. W. Conn officiating, and the interment will be made in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Stewart & Fix.
