Raymond O'Bannon

Raymond O'Bannon 93, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at his home. Born Jan. 22, 1910, in Campbellsville, Ky., he was the son of Lucian and Emma (Kenny) O'Bannon. He married Jessie Colvin on March 31, 1929, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 1986. He married Martha Leota Wright on July 23, 1988, and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Phyllis (Lewis) Weaver of Shelbyville, and Darlene (Richard) Mount of Summerville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
Mr. O'Bannon was a lifelong farmer in Hendricks Township and drove a bus for Southwestern School District for 24-1/2 years before retiring. He was a member of Shelbyville Baptist Temple, where he was the oldest member.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Humphrey officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County, 110 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
