Charles Raymond "Sam" Olinger, 75, R.R.1, Shelbyville, died
Sunday, October 19, 1986, Heritage House Manor.
Past member of the Shelbyville Central School Board for two terms; served as
president.
Past president and member of the
Shelby County Chambers of Commerce.
Owned and operated the Olinger Insurance Agency for 20 years, retiring in
1977. 1972 "Insurance Agent of the Year," Independent Insurance Agents Association.
Co-owner and co-operator of the Monfort-Olinger
Chrysler-Plymouth dealership, 1965-1977.
Manager of Shelby
Beverage for five years.
Member of the First Christian church, he was an elder and served as
chairman of the church’s board of directors and building and remodeling
committee.
Other memberships: Shelby Masonic Lodge No. 28 F&AM, Scottish
Rite, Murat Shrine, Shelby County Shrine Club, the Elks Lodge and the Eagles
Lodge.
Born July 24, 1911, in Buffalo, Missouri, s/o Charles I.
and Bertha M. (Bean) Olinger.
October 5, 1935 married Agnes
Olinger in Morristown; she survives.
Other survivors: sons, Charles R. Olinger, Shelbyville, and
O.
Oren Olinger, Muncie; a brother, Dr. Bert Olinger, Columbus, Indiana;
a sister, Mrs. Mary Ruth Graves, Jeffersonville, and five
grandchildren.
Son preceded him in death.
First Christian Church with the
Rev. James Horner officiating.
Burial: Forest Hill Cemetery.
Masonic service
Tuesday at the mortuary.

Maxine Olinger, 59, R.R. 9, Columbus,
died Thursday afternoon at Bartholomew County Hospital in Columbus.
Former Shelby County resident.
Born October 28, 1920 in Shelby county, and was a daughter
of Byron and Gladys Pfendler.
Married Bert Olinger, who
survives, on June 17, 1944.
Other survivors include a son, Steven Olinger, at home, a daughter,
Natalie
Olinger, a student at the Indiana University School of Optometry in
Bloomington, and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Geneva) Milner of Fairland and
Mrs. John (Mary) Collier at Cincinnati.
Member of the First Christian Church of Columbus and the
Ladies Auxiliary of the Indiana Optometric Association.
Spent her early life in Shelby County and lived in the Columbus area for
the past 30 years.
Services at Reed and Jewell Funeral Home in
Columbus, with the Rev. James Horner officiating.
Burial in
Garland Brook Cemetery.

C. I. Olinger, 82, Modesto, California, died Sunday, October 27, 1963, at home.
Former resident and farmer in
the Morristown area,
Born March 30, 1881, in Buffalo, Missouri, a son of David
and Sarah (Wilson) Olinger.
Survivors: three children, Raymond (Sam) Olinger of Meiks Addition,
Dr. B. B. Olinger, of Columbus, and Mrs. Mary Ruth Graves, of Waverly,
Ohio; a brother, Frank Olinger of Campbell, California; a sister,
Mrs.
Leona Snider of Buffalo, Missouri; five grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Farmer in the Morristown area until 1947, when he moved to California
Member of the Morristown Methodist Church and the National
Grange of California.

Mrs. O. O. Olinger Dies After Long Illness

In poor
health for many years, Mrs. Alma Brown Olinger, age 70, wife of O[liver]
O. Olinger, died at her home in Morrisotwn Tuesday morning at 7:30
o’clock. Death was caused by a heart
ailment.
Mrs.
Olinger was born in Hanover township on January 1, 1874, the daughter of Walter
and Susan Keaton Brown. She had
been a member of the Morristown Methodist Church for the past 42 years.
On January
2, 1898, in Missouri, she was married to Mr. O[liver] O. Olinger, who survives
with one cousin.
Funeral
services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the late home with Rev. Floyd
Cook officiating. Burial will be made
in Asbury cemetery in charge of L. V. Hauk. Friends may call at the residence at any time.

DEATH FOLLOWS LONG ILLNESS

Mrs. Charles Olinger of Union Township Dies; Funeral Today

Mrs. Anna Olinger, age fifty-eight, wife of
Charles Olinger,
died Wednesday at 6:10 a.m. at her home in Union township. Death was caused by
complications and followed an illness of several months.
The deceased was born on January 7, 1881, in Missouri and spent her early
life in Racine, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Mr. Olinger on December 3,
1933. Survivors, besides the husband, are two step-sons, Raymond, of
Morristown, and Bertram, at home; a step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Ruth Lee,
of Connersville; a brother, Henry Hughes, of California; a sister-in-law,
Mrs. Ella Hughes, of Maquon, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Olinger was a member of the Morristown M.E. church, where funeral
services will be conducted today at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ira E. Monts,
of Maquon, Illinois, a nephew, officiating, assisted by the Rev. K. D.
Vandeventer, pastor of the church. Burial will be made in Asbury cemetery in
charge of L.V. Hauk.

MRS. OLINGER PASSES AWAY

Resident of Morristown Community Victim of Cancer, Complications

THREE CHILDREN SURVIVE

Mrs. Bertha Olinger, 49 years old, wife of Charles Olinger,
died at her home two miles south of Morristown this morning at 5 o’clock,
after having been bedfast for ten weeks. Her death was caused by cancer and
complications.
Mrs. Olinger was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Morristown.
Besides the husband she leaves three children, Raymond, Mary Ruth
and Bertram.
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Morristown
M..E. church, Rev. Homer Manuel officiating. Burial will be in the Asbury
cemetery. Lanta V. Hauk of Morristown is the funeral director in charge.

YOUNG MAN DIED EASTER SUNDAY

Complication Caused Death of John Olinger, Of Near Morristown

Twenty-One Years of Age
----------
John Olinger passed away at the home of his parents one and one-half
miles south of Morristown Sunday afternoon at two-fifteen. He was twenty-one
years old last November and was born in Missouri. He had been a resident of
Shelby county for the past fourteen years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Olinger and is survived by two brothers, Raymond and Bertram and one
sister, Mary Lou, all at home. The deceased had been ill for several
months, but was taken suddenly worse with complications last Tuesday.
Young Olinger was a member of the M.E. church at Morristown and was one of
the popular young men of that community. Services will be held at the church on
Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock and burial will be made in the Asbury
Cemetery in charge of L.V. Hauk.

Jewell Olinger, the thirteen-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Olinger, who live south of Morristown, died this morning after a long
illness. The funeral will be held in the M. E. church at Morristown Tuesday
afternoon, the Rev. Abele officiating. The interment will be made in Asbury
cemetery.
