          James Ellison Parton, Sr.,  81, Indianapolis, passed away March 3, 2013.*  He was born February 5, 1933 to the late  Matt and  Anna Treadway Parton.  James married  Linda Fishback  on February 14, 1959 in Manilla, Indiana.  He had been employed as a heating and air conditioning technician for Amoco prior to his disability.  James served his country as a Marine in the Korean War.   He was a life member Bethany Wesleyan Church and a 23 year member of American Legion Post 88.  James [was] very active in the community serving as a Garfield Park Sunken Gardens Renovation Advisory Council Member, Friends of Garfield Park Conservatory Member, Garfield East Neighborhood Board Member, Southside Sidewalks Advocate Member, MDA Adult Support Group Member, Community Hospital East Volunteer (10) years, Hook Rehab Laugh Lines Editor, and One Body Food Pantry Volunteer.
          He is survived by wife Linda (Fishback) Parton, Indianapolis; sons  Timothy (Cathy) Parton,  Indianapolis,  Marc A. Parton,  Indianapolis, and  Brian L. (Maria) Parton,  Indianapolis; sister  Marie (James) Martin,  Indianapolis; grandchildren  Kacy (Scott) Epley,  Pulaski, TN,  Laura (Charles Rothhaas) Parton,  Beech Grove,  Jennifer,  Derrick,  Harrison and  Liam Parton  from Indianapolis ; and eight great grandchildren.  He was preceded in passing by his parents Matt and Anna Parton, son  James Parton, Jr.,  brother  Virgil Parton, Sr.   and sisters  Frances Cook,  Virgie Travis  and  Mabel Williams.
          Services Thursday, March 6 at 10:30 am at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. Visitation Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the mortuary. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the One Body Food Pantry.
