Virginia B. Pickett, 81, lifetime Shelbyville resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001,
Beech Grove.
Born July 25, 1919, in Shelby County, d/o Scott R. and Lura T. (McDaniel)
Hendricks.
Married Donald E. Pickett on Oct. 19, 1935, and he survives.
Other survivors: one son, Donald R. Pickett of Flat Rock; one daughter,
Mrs. Stanley (Shirley) Kuntz of Waldron; one brother, Raymond K. Hendricks
of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Homemaker.
Member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church in Shelby County and Norristown Eastern Star.
Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with the Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating.
Burial: Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery in Shelby County.

Rites Are Thursday

Conda Pickett, 67, of Fountaintown, R.R. 1, near Pleasant View, died today at 6:50 a.m. at the Tenth St. Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis, where he had been a patient five weeks. Mr. Pickett was a retired employe of the Studebaker Corp. in South Bend, moving to Shelby County in 1962. He was a veteran of World War II.
Born in Jennings County Dec. 22, 1899, he was the son of Coat and Lillie (Currier) Pickett. Surviving are these brothers and sisters, Wardie Pickett of Metamora, Leslie Pickett of Niles, Mich., and Mrs. Robert (Naomi) Cummings and Mrs. George (Lola) Robins of Upsilanti, Mich.
Services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Murphy Mortuary, with Rev. A.M. Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.

MRS. PICKETT DIES IN HOSPITAL

City Resident for 47 Years; Rites Today

Mrs. Ida Dorothy Pickett, 74, 521 North Pike Street, died Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Major Hospital where she had been a patient for one week. A complication was given as the cause of death.
Born December 18, 1882, in Ripley County, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Fischmer) Nordloh. On July 25, 1899, she was united in marriage with Fred Pickett, who preceded in death November 26, 1956. She came to Shelbyville from Batesville in 1910 and was a member of the First Methodist Church in this city.
Survivors include three daughters and one son. They are: Mrs. Gladys Anders and Mrs. Florine Patton of Indianapolis; and Mrs. Mildred Neu and former Mayor Harold Pickett, both of this city. A daughter, Mrs. Helen Ransdell, preceded in death in March, 1956, and a son, Russell Pickett, died in1915. A sister, Miss Elsie Nordloh and a brother Harry Nordloh of Shelbyville, also survive. There are nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Murphy Mortuary with Rev. H. R. Page and Dr. Amos L. Boren officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.

FRED PICKETT DIES AT HOME

Rites for Local Man To Be Held Wednesday

Fred Pickett, 76, former operator of the Home Heating Company in this city, died at his home, 521 North Pike street, at 4:30 a.m. today. He had been in failing health for two years, but death, which followed a heart seizure, was unexpected.
Mr. Pickett was born in Greensburg April 9, 1880, the son of Peter and Susan (Stafford) Pickett. He operated the local heating firm for 25 years before retiring four years ago. On July 25, 1899, he was married in Batesville to Ida D. Nordloh.
Surviving with the widow are four children,
Harold Pickett, former mayor of Shelbyville who lives at home; Mrs. Earl [Mildred] Neu of this city, and Mrs. George [Gladys] Anders and Mrs. Glenn Patton of Indianapolis. Two children, Mrs. Helen Ransdell and Russell Pickett, preceded in death. There are nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pickett was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Modern Woodmen Lodge. His funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Murphy Mortuary with
Dr. H. R. Page officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

SON RECEIVED WORD
OF FATHER’S DEATH

Word has been received by Fred Pickett, of north Pike street, stating that his father, Peter Pickett, 76 years old, died at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. C. D. Reddington, at Cincinnati, Ohio, late Monday evening. His
death was caused from cancer, having been a sufferer of that disease for more
than six months.
The body will be brought to Greensburg Thursday, where the burial will be
made in the cemetery [South Park] at that place, at 1:30 o’clock p.m.
Mr. Pickett, until five years ago was a resident of this city and had many
friends who will be saddened to learn of his death. He was a man of excellent
character and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.
Mr. Pickett is survived by two sons, Fred and Frank, and three
daughters, Mrs. William Ranson, and Mrs. C. D. Reddington, of
Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Guy Donley, of Fairmount, Minnesota.

Apoplexy Causes Death of Aged Woman
– Had Been in Perfect
Health

Mrs. Susan T. Pickett died at her home, 416 north Hamilton street,
Saturday evening at 5 o’clock from apoplexy with which she was stricken early
in the day. Her death is a very great shock to the family as she had not been
ill at any time and was apparently in very good health until the stroke Saturday
morning at 7:30 o’clock. She did not regain consciousness after the stroke.
She had lived in Shelbyville for the last four years, coming here from
Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born in Jonesboro, Tennessee, and at her death was
aged 73 years, 6 months and 23 days. She was also a well known resident of
Greensburg where she was a member of the Christian church. She was a kind and
pleasant neighbor and a woman whose death causes much sorrow among her many
friends.
Surviving are her husband, Peter Pickett, of this city; three
daughters, Mrs. C. D. Reddington and Mrs. C. D. Young, of Cincinnati,
Ohio; Mrs. G. D. Donnley, of Fairmount, Minnesota; two sons, Fred
Pickett, of this city, and H. F. Pickett, of Bellevue, Kentucky.
There are also 12 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the late home Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock,
Rev. M. S. Decker, of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial at the
South Park cemetery at Greensburg, Indiana. Friends are kindly asked to omit
flowers. S. M. Hendrickson, undertaker is in charge of the funeral and burial.

Russell H. Pickett, the four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Pickett, 151 John street, died this morning at thirty minutes after twelve o’clock.
The child had been sick several weeks. The funeral will be held Saturday
afternoon at the home of the parents at 2:30 o’clock. The remains will be
taken to Batesville for interment, leaving on the 3:40 train. Hendrickson &
Sleeth are in charge.
